1/2 mile wide open questions?

All,
I have never done the 1/4 mile or anything that type of track. Only track I've been on is the road course at NCM. That said, I have the opportunity to do the 1/2 mile from dead stop to the 1/2 mile mark. My set is is currently around 580WHP. What kind of top speed should I expect?? its in August so I'm sure the temps will be in low to mid 90's and I'm sure thats a factor.

My 600 rwhp 2000 Camaro SS traps 130 mph in the 1/4 mile, and it weighs about 3800 lbs with me in it. With your setup in the 1/2 mile you'll be leaps and bounds above that mph.

I did a half mile in 2017 (Wannagofast) and the car did 114 in the quarter and 139 in the half. Did another one in 2018 and the car did 118 in the quarter and 144 in the half. Looking at the math, both times the car added 22% in the back half. If you had any 1/4 mile runs on you car, you could roughly calculate your 1/2 mile terminal speed. Perhaps you can find some data in the 1/4 Mile V-8 Fast List for cars similar to yours in HP and weight to get an
estimate for your 1/4 speed. My guess is you will go high 120's, maybe low 130's in the 1/4 mile and 155-160 in the half. Good luck.

With a blower added onto a stock LT1, I think that priority one would be helping out the piston rings. This would mean cooling things down. Since you say 580hp, my opinion is that your fuel system is at best already on the ragged edge, and possibly already losing some pressure. This means that E85 is totally off the table with your existing fuel system. Therefore I think that adding a water/methanol injection system and using windshield washer solvent would be a nice addition. This setup would be mainly for cooling, and the ~35% methanol could take the edge off the fuel system.

Or, just run 100 octane (or higher) fuel.

While the octane would be nice, that alone would not help with cooling. So it's not exactly the same thing as the water/meth system, which helps with cooling, and also helps with octane via the methanol. Also on the gasoline subject, would want to find one that does not have more ethanol than pump gas, since the fuel system on this car very likely is already maxed out or struggling on E10. I am going by his sig line that does not list any fuel system upgrades.

all good information. thanks! I have no plans on running E-anything. Meth is still up in the air, just not really sure where to begin or how much its going to cost. (not that cost is a factor at this point). I was told that 600 is really where the fuel starts to run out. My tuner seems to think that where I'm at is good. but I'm overly cautious on everything. Last thing I want to do is blow a motor/rings etc... especially when I don't' even have 6000 miles on it yet. I've always ran 93 octane, and I'm not even sure where around where I live sells 100+. i guess i'm not a tuner, but I've always thought you really should run close to what your tuned for. Education is bliss!
**to further digress, if I did find 100+Octane, it would be safe to run in the current state?
