question on a TT LFX?

Quick question. A fiend bought a 2013 V^ and says his brother is some lead engineer for GM who has a TT kit that will supposedly put 650rwhp down. I have not seen or heard anything with these kinds of numbers. Anyone know if this is possibly true?

Hummm I call bull on this! These V6 engines can't handle 650rwhp on a stock block and internals. And if anything like this was true if he is a GM engineer, GM would of posted it here. They post everything here as this is the home of the 5th Gen Camaro's.

Trust me, GM doesn't post everything here... Actually i think GM "officially" posts very little here..

As far as the OP and a TT kit... he said the kit was capable of making 650 rwhp... could be for a newer, upgraded V6 with slightly better internals than the current LFX...

I was talking with one of my little birdies who said Ford had taken a 3.5 V6 EcoBoost, like the one in my Flex, and cranked it up over 700 HP... so I have no doubt about the GM TT kit...

I agree, but don't see it being used as a LS or LT mode car. Don't see why GM would add turbos that can be cranked up to that much power for us LS or LT owners. This sounds like a post V8 era for the SS or maybe Z28. If it does see light in can see us current V6 owners maybe benefiting from this if we buy the parts from GM. I can see a 4 banger with very small single or twin turbos making around 400hp as a LS or LT.

The potential is there for a V6 to easily make that kind of power. Not with the internals that it currently comes with from the factory however. Maybe he is referring to some testing they have done. Maybe a future Camaro or Vette power plant.

The numbers haven't quite translated to the track just yet, but we have had a twin turbo car put down 450rwhp with his automatic equipped car. Thats roughly 550 or more crank horsepower.

That was on a non-forged internal though. I'd say one could go further for sure once it was forged, but 650rwhp still sounds like an insane amount of power.

Not saying it can't be done though. There is/was a 4th gen V6 that ran 9s.

Gretchen has hit the 500rwhp mark this past summer. I'm at 429rwhp until I get my Meth spraying again.

We exceeded 700 rwhp on a dyno run with 19# boost and using a meth inj system spraying 116 race fuel to supplement, but this motor will NOT hold up. This is all just in our R&D of these and this was the forged pistons first test. Nearly finished with the crank and rods, but the potential is there. Only did 3 pulls adding boost each time expecting it to come apart but it didn't. No way I would push a stock one near that though.

We also have a twin turbo (besides Gretchens) with the EFR's and a 50 shot that comes on until the boost hits 4#'s and it spools them up in no time.

As for GM engineers, we only hear a small fraction of what really goes on, and believe me....they are doing some crazy stuff in their R&D dept.
