Suspension: Myth vs Fact

Very good write up. Just thought I'd share.

One must keep in mind (and be completely honest with themselves) the type of driving they do and what they want from their vehicle.

True. If straight line is your thing, poly it.

If taking turns is your thing, I would stay away from Poly on the axle side (rubber or rod/rotor joint).

Snap oversteer is a scary thing.

The bushings for the lower control arms could be changed with the 1LE ones (same ones sold by Moog).
For the panhard this is a different story, the only performance options are the ones with polybushing en Rod/rotor ends.

The panhard from the SS Camaro/Firebird is not available anymore, so there is nothing more to choose

I plan on running 1LE bushings in my LCAs. I looked for a 1LE PHB and couldn't find one so like you, its off to the aftermarket for mine.

Not that I believe it's not possible, but I have a hard time believing that snap-oversteer is actually a concern, even with the poly bushings, with the three link setup 3rd/4th gens have. If anyone has spent time in a fox body, they will know how easy snap-oversteer occurs. However, it's not something that easily occurs in the Camaro - even with the bushings (in my experience, anyway).

I'm running poly bushings, with my LCA's on the lowest setting. I run the car hard and Auto-X it regularly. I have no issues with getting loose in the corners.

That said I don't like the poly bushings and will be swapping to Adjustable LCA's with roto joints in the future. The poly does bind, make a lot of noise, and is rougher than needed. I was just a noob when I bought them 3 years ago and was lead to believe they were the best at the time...

I know Fox body oversteer all to well.

I didn't have snap-oversteer with the TA, but I don't recall pushing it anywhere near as hard as I do with this SS (unless of course you count the turbo spooling up hard in the middle of the apex, that increases the pucker factor quickly).

I got the link off of LS1tech in a thread where the guy was having a lot of issues with snap-oversteer. I re-read the article and he added a 3rd gen (22mm?) rear bar on his car without upgrading the front bar (30mm) on his 4th gen. He also had poly bushings everywhere in his setup, so who knows? He was told to put the 19mm bar back on. If he still had issues, the next step was to get rid of the poly.
