Going to 16" to 17" wheel question

In about 4 weeks or so im planning on getting some 17" rims for my camaro, after I get these wheels on it, am i going to have to get the speedo recalculated for the correct speed. and if so, how? Thanks

I think you might have more things to deal with than speedo. Depends on the tire size you put on them...

Whoops never mind... I got lost and ended up in the 4th Gen threads...

Just keep the same tire height as stock and you should be good to go w/ the speedo. I'm sure there some experts out there who can help you much better than I.

You can get 17's with a tire the same height as the stock tires. Problem solved.

When i bought my 2001 3.8V6 Camaro, he has the orginal tires on it 215/60/R16, with 16x8"snowflake rims.

I replaced the tires with the Z28 size 245/50/ZR16, this tire is al little bit less heigh.

I solved this problem by buying a Hypertech 32002, and corrected it
It is also handy, you can remove the speed limiter, read problems (and reset), change shifting point (automatic).

Nope, speedo will take care of itself. A tune couldn't hurt when upping your wheel size, and (depending on how big you're going) some bigger brakes. But you're only going up 1", I think you'll be fine just bolting them bastards on and driving away.

What do you mean by "speedo will take care of itself", the ECM can not think by itself

i replaced my 215/60/R16 (outside diameter 26,2") with the Z28 size 245/50/ZR16 (outside diameter 25,6").
and the odometer was not correct anymore, i checked it also with a navigation system TOMTOM)

With a Hypertech 32002, you can give your outside diameter of the tires, and aif you changed your axle , you can correct this too

I stand corrected. Obviously it will not adjust itself, but seems odd that it should need adjustment at all. Hell, at this rate maybe I'll swap out for some 28"s, and just drive 145 everywhere I go

You should be able to get a tire size close to the stock 26" height. Just depends on what kind of wheel you are trying to run.
