My car had the missing fob key when I bought it, tried to replace it but no one would cut a new key from a blank for me because of the recall, so I only have the standalone ones, I 3D printed a small blank to put in the spot where key used to be on the fob so that at least there isn't a big hole collecting all sorts of lint and dust in it

When I got my new to me 2012 Camaro SS like a month or so ago it just came with the key no fob. So as soon as I got home I called a mobile locksmith I know and he came to my house and made me a new flip key fob for $150. No trying to order one going to the dealer or trying to program it myself. He did it in about 15 minutes. To me it was worth every penny.

ya was thinking about it, I rented a car a couple of weeks ago, brand new 23, and it had the same key..

Who was it that kept kneeing the key and started all that crap?

there are a crap load of chevys being made now with the switch blade key....surely you can buy a blank for them, they look exactly the same and just tell the locksmith its for that car I would think....or ask other locksmiths, someone will do it..

I bet I've gotten 50 of those over the years including just last week.
They go right to the trash.

Any help on this and your input would be greatly appreciated,

Thanks, Scott
I would pursue a 2013-15 with more mileage instead.

I just had my 2014 2SS repaired, scorched cam due to AFM. Luckily I had an extended warranty. With only 22,000 miles it cost me $100, cost the warranty company $7,000. I had the shop remove the AFM and retuned. Runs better than ever!

Buy an extended warranty if you buy a GM with AFM!
