onstar module location on 6g finally confirmed

So my brother took his 17 ss to the dealership to remove the onstar module and had no luck lol. His car is 100% paid for btw, He was beyond irate and vowed to locate it.

I will forward the pics he took once he sends them to me. One plug, and 2 antenna connectors. It is underneath a plastic panel on the bottom of passenger side dash. It sits directly above your toes so to speak. Remove the plastic panel and it right there next to another module. I will send pics soon as Zach sends them to me.

I posted this because I know it has been discussed before and I find it impulsive how gm wants to shove onstar down your throats even if you don't want it.

Impulsive or impressive? For many years OnStar has been the most profitable GM Division, and may even still be.

Remote start from my phone alone is enough to keep that puppy installed.

What's the obsession with removing it?

People are paranoid. I guess they have something to hide.

Personal choice. I openly admit I have nothing to hide or run from (have a trackable smartphone) with glympse app so I can be tracked WHEN I DESIRE. I street race and mod my car and don't need anybody snooping into how fast I went where, what time etc. For me it's a personal choice and I don't down those who want it. In all my gm cars onstar gets removed immediately.

No judgment here, different strokes for different folks.

Helped to save my grandmother's life during a coronary event, so I've had a fairly positive view of it since that time. I let it lapse in the old Gen5 but plan on keeping it active on the Gen6.

Yessir! I can definitely see how some will appreciate os and believe it should be optional. I'm simply helping those that choose to not want it at all or disabled (personal choice).

I have nothing to hide and I'm not paranoid. What I am is a smartphone owner since 2011 so I pay for EVERYTHING onstar is already.

I have a phone that does everything onstar does. Ok, so it can't locate my car if it's stolen or I'm in an accident. In the words of the great Peter Griffin: Oh for Christs sake who the hell friggin cares? The odds of me ever being in an accident in the middle of nowhere are slim to none because I just never go into the wilderness, and if someone steals my car that means they can drive stick and have cracked my rolling code transponder ignition system, so they have expensive equipment and they're smart. Good for them. My insurance will cover it thank you.

I just don't agree with making OnStar standard and mandatory. The system should be an option. I will be removing mine as well - well, at least just disabling the transceiver so I can still have use of the microphone for bluetooth.

So thank you to the OP for providing this information - I've been getting antsy waiting for Helms to release the stupid service manual lol!

Not even worth responding to. That kind of attitude is held by bootlickers of the state. Maybe he will be paranoid after watching the video another more intelligent forum member posted.

nice looking camaro, is that the 2018? They are hacking a tesla, you drive a camaro. You would have a better chance and a lightning strike.

Isle 4 at the Safeway buddy......aluminum foil. On the back of the box it even shows you how to make a hat out of aluminum foil.
