2023 ZLE won't stay in 3rd gear under throttle

This has happened to me 3 times now, and I only have 170 miles on my zle. Only in 3rd, if just do even medium acceleration it is popping out of 3rd and going back into neutral. Called a couple of dealers, one I saying the synchros and the other is saying 3rd gear detent. Either way the transmission will have to be opened up with less than 200 miles on the car. A real shame.

I had a 2022 base zl1 last year with no issues but I guess just got unlucky with this one.

Probably the synchro's but won't know until they open it up.

By the way, I always take the time to say this, but there is no such thing as a base ZL1. Since the ZL1 is the only trim line for the ZL1.

The 1LE is an option not a trim. Now something like a Corvette that has the 1LT, 2LT and 3LT trims. The 1LT could be considered the base Corvette.

Isn’t a ZL1 with no options, a base ZL1? That’s what I would call it.

This is a serious problem and you should have the dealer replace the trans, do everything you can to stop them from replacing trans parts.. They will probably never get it right and it will drag on for a long time.

No. Base means the lowest trim of that model.

If the ZL1 had other trims, like ZL1 1LT, ZL1 2LT and ZL1 3LT then the base would be considered the ZL1 1LT.

Yes, those different version would have options that the other don't but still it doesn't count when there is only 1 trim of a specific model, like the ZL1.

Now, the Camaro SS....it has the 1SS and 2SS so the base Camaro SS would be the 1SS.

We’ll agree to disagree. A ZL1 with no options will continue to be a base ZL1 to me.

That is what I am hoping for, rebuilding a 300 mile transmission is not what I want nor do I have much confidence that it will be perfect afterwards.

You sound spot on with your argument, but it’s tiring my brain and it feels way to politically correct.

I agree with the new trans, actually I’d want them to give me a new trans and I’d do the work. No dealer touching my car.

Here is what I would do first IMHO. I would put this issue to Tremec and discuss the issue and have their knowledge of the issue and any remedy/causes. It makes you look like you know the deal when talking to the Chevy service. And It may help Tremec also. My two cents worth because I would go that route.
Cheers,

Definitely odd. Seems like it could be shift linkage or something not torqued right and came loose. Take it to the dealer.

So 3rd gear synchro was the issue, parts to fix are on backorder though. My gm case manager said it will be turned over to a parts delay specialist on May 30th if still on backorder, which I'm sure they will be.

Does anyone know what the gm parts delay specialist will be doing with my case differently than my current case manager?

I waited 4 1/2 months from July ish to November last year for a trans rebuild on my 10L90. My understanding is nobody particularly cares about us in this situation unless you get a truly special dealer. You are back of the line as far as service is concerned because the dealer gets paid flat rate from manufacturer for most warranty work so they can’t overcharge. They call it what they want and GM does have serious supply issues across the board for years now.
