Noticed exhaust only exiting on the passenger side pipe. This is what the shop found inside the drivers side exhaust. Now catless. The other cat was not present so we think it made it all the way through the system or disintegrated.

I'm paying a bit extra to give the Kooks green cats a try. Specifically advertised for FI application up to 800hp and 1500 degree exhaust temps.....we shall see how they do...I'll be pushing 700 at the wheels.

Had the SLP headers, and high flow cats. When the car reached around 11psi, the cats started to fail. I switched over to Stainless Works Cats and dropped boost to 8psi. (pulley swap), plus new tune. Will try the scope method when I check them out. Thanks! |

Was there a significant difference in the sound once the cats were punched/removed? Any raspiness or drone?

Even before FI !
My Whipple is setting in the garage while I buy/save for the supporting mods I'm wanting before install. About a month ago started noticing some power issues, and noises. I knew the cats were going bye bye as soon as the Whipple was on, but that was going to be awhile. I took the car into my muffler shop and had them check the cats. BOTH were trashed! My car is cammed, LT headers and a tune, around 460-470rwhp. IMO I'd clean the cats as soon as you go past just a CAI.

ARH cats still no problems. 30K miles TVS2300, cam, the works. Whatever ARH is doing with thier product it seems to be providing some durability.

My stock cats failed after 13K miles on a 2010 Camaro with Magnuson and a moderate tune (~520RWHP). My guess is the tune wasn't the best as per my read of about 1/2 this thread, just having a supercharger shouldn't have killed my cats that quickly. Not sure what the next step is, probably get someone else to check the tune and buy some new cats...

After seeing this thread revived so many times I figured I'd check my cats. I got them off the shelf in the basement and looked through them and they still look like new.

my issue at hand is I can not pass inspection without the cats. It's just a visual inspection, so they can be hollowed out, but I really don't want to pay 200 for the stainless works cats just to hollow them out.
