The first time I drove a stick in over 20 years was the day I picked up my Camaro. Nope, I didn't even test drive the car, just wanted it. Anyway.....yes, I stalled it a few times and may have smelled clutch one or twice but it all came back pretty quick. My biggest issue was any sort of hill or incline which I think was mostly in my head!

Think of it like sex - once you've done it, you always know how and get better at it each time! Sorry, I couldn't resist

Should of been rental car week for you if you were that concerned. I would of gotten a stick rental and that way it would of been more natural for when you would of gotten your car

I can drive a manual with flip flops I'm just not a fan of it. For me at times the back of the flip flop will get stuck on the floor mat and not let me take the clutch out right.

And congrats OP just know the clutch grabs pretty quickly.

How screwed am I that I will be having to drive this home from the dealership?

The good thing I guess is the first hour of the drive back is just on the highway.
You'll be fine! I bought a '05 scion xB manual without knowing how to drive stick and needless to say, look at me now! lol See one thing is, you HAVE to teach yourself because you won't be able to get home.

The manual transmission cars have skip shift. It is meant to improve gas mileage and prevents the gas guzzler tax on these cars. Under the right circumstances the computer tells you to shift from 1st to 4th skipping 2nd and 3rd. It closes the gates to 2nd and 3rd preventing you from shifting to them. You can install an eliminator to make the car normal and the issue goes away completely.

You will be ok. It will take a little while to get use to it but after that it will be all gravy. Warning! You will stall the car most likely and embarrass yourself for a litte bit until you get use to it.

This is a strange thread. You could barely hold me back the night before I picked up my 2SS with an LS3 in it. I was a madman on a mission.

You're getting into a driver's car Nole! Lose the panic and forget this skip shift mischief. Have yourself a good time and take a few pictures for us when you arrive at home safely. You'll be fine.

It is very easy to install, took my dealer 10 minutes and 5 of it was putting the car up in the air and bringing it back down again. After the install if skip shift comes up on the display ignore it and go to second. This kit turns off the soleniod from locking the gates.

I hadn't driven in a stick in a few years but picked up on my 2012 1LS pretty quickly.

I think the Camaro has one of the most forgiving manual transmissions I have ever driven.
