You are right if you are referring to timed performance. There's no cars on sale or available for review yet which is why.

More wishful thinking than anything, Some feel the Vette will get a power boost also to keep it above the Camaro.

Why do people keep thinking the Camaro will have less power then the vet?

It's the same engine... It will make the same power. The only piece of info that would make us believe it will have more power is the addition of the new headers. Now having said that if the next Corvette gets the same then it will have a power increase. The guys and gals that are making the new Camaro do not care about the corvette. Their goal is to make the best Camaro that's it.

Why would they go through the effort and expense of designing and manufacturing nice exhaust headers to give it less horsepower? The simple common sense test doesn't make sense. If you plan to give it less power you give it the same exhaust manifold currently on the vette and detune it in the ECU. That's a lot cheaper and faster.

The tri y headers would be absolutely wasted unless they were trying to squeeze more power out of the engine. The headers may be an attempt to keep power up with the longer Camaro exhaust or they might be planning to make more in the Camaro than the Corvette. If they were planning on having the usual difference in power, the Camaro would probably keep the usual and cheaper cast manifolds.

Looks to be the very same LT1 in the Vette. I really don't think they'll do anything to change the specs of the engine, as it wouldn't really be cost effective. Of course things like air intake, exhaust piping, and driveline will effect the final output to the wheels.

Exactly. If they wanted it to make the same / less then they could've just threw in the LT1 as is and let the difference in intake / exhaust take its toll and decrease the horsepower so it would be under the C7's rating (see LS3 camaro / corvette).

And that resulted in a difference of 4hp. I'm pretty sure tri-ys will give us more than 4hp.

Funny that 4 hp is pretty close to plus or minus 1% of 430hp. The new sae standards require them to be accurate within 1%. Gm could rate the ls3 from around 425 to 435 hp and be within limits. It's likely the same motor. It will show lower rwhp numbers in the camaro due to slightly greater drivetrain loss. Bigger wheels and some other things.

The dual mode exhaust is also worth 5hp on the corvette and it will be an option on the gen6. Unless the tri y headers only come with the dual mode exhaust I predict the Camaro hp will be what the c7 numbers are at a minimum. 455 and 460. Possibly 5 more.
