Quality Control Hold ?
My Camaro is in quality control hold. My Camaro was a 1/25 tpw but was actually built on 1/20. If your Camaro is at 4B00 status and it has been stuck with that status for more than a week you are probably in quality control hold. After it was built at 3800 status it changed to 4B00 status a couple of days later. On 2/3 my status was 4300 delivery to Charlotte Mi. Since then it has been at 4B00 status. My dealer called me today and confirmed it is in quality control hold. So GM is back to the BS stuck in qc for way too long. It seems like they have 1 person who checks on your car once it goes to qc hold.
Hopefully some posters who were also in qc hold can give me an idea of how long I will be stuck in this BS. My Camaro better have zero problems when it finally arrives or I might lose my mind. I would look for another Camaro but I'm extremely picky and can't find another one just like the 1 I ordered and I got a great deal basically invoice. |

During the course of a model year Chevrolet randomly takes about one in five for a random quality check. Selections are made without regard as to a retail stock or retail sold status. Other than the Corvette and Camaro vehicle lines, few notice.
My memory is it adds about a week to the post built pre shipped process. Before this thread I have not seen a number applied to who does the checks but I strongly suspect it is more than one. Laborsmith |

you will probably never know, while the car is still in their position, any issues in QC that they may be having may get resolved without an explanation required.

From reading about all the problems so far, I think they need to spend some time in QC.

I don't think Chevy has admitted to a problem causing the extended holds for the October builds, but in this case there may not be a problem, and hoping there is not, because these checks are done to make sure there is no problem. Which is why I believe the checks are done by a team, say an engine bay specialist, or an interior or exterior etc. I think of the process as being similar to what is done at a Concours.

My 1SS was TPW 10/12 and was built on 10/14. It went 3800, then 4300 for a month while it sat at GM Lansing Grand River. On 11/13 it went 4200 for half a day went it was shipped to Troy, MI to be incarcerated at Penske Vehicle Services. It sat at Penske from 11/14 until 01/22/16 when it was shipped finally to the railhead at GM Hamtramck Assembly Plant. I received the Camaro on 02/04/16 with no explanation from GM/Chevrolet as to why it had such an extensive delay.
So far, I've noted no problems with the car. I can't tell what work was done to it, although the passenger side strut tower looks tampered with. I hope you have better luck, as I had no info from any source other than our Becky. My dealer was absolutely clueless and the employees would just shrug and say that Chevy's not telling them anything. Chevy live chat was a joke, too, and a total waste of time. My car is fantastic, but I have no idea if or what they did to it for over three months that it was "on QC hold." If GM would at least communicate with their buyers, it would ease the wait.

Obviously more than 1 person is in quality control that was sarcasm. It just feels that way. My car was built 26 days ago. You think Chevy could get their head out of their asses and make the process a little faster or more efficient. My car better be near perfect when it finally gets to me. No paint issues, npp valve rattles, and all the other problems I have read about on this forum. This will be the last time I order a car from GM. Probably the last time I buy a Chevy period unless my car is near perfect. I have ordered many cars from many different car brands in the past and GM is the worse by far. Dodge, (srt4), Mits, (Evo) Subaru, (STI) Porsche, (dad's purchase) Audi (RS8 best friends order). Just saying Chevy is a joke to me with this ordering process. It seems to me that a company the size of Chevy and how long they have been in the car business they would have their shit together with the ordering and producing cars process but that isn't the case. I'm still a big fan of the 6th gen Camaros wasn't a fan of the 5th gen Camaros.

It is so easy for Chevy to fix the problem too. All Chevy needs to do is have an email system that sends you an email or text when your status changes. I know through Chevy chat they use to ask or sign you up for weekly email updates. Like Tara said communication is where Chevy gets an F. If they would just send me an email or call me or text me saying hey your car is in quality control because of this or it was randomly chosen for quality control and we expect your car to ship out this date or around this date. Chevy should know must if not all of the people that have special ordered their Camaros are car enthusiasts and will be checking on their babies all the time. I remember when my buddy ordered his Viper he received an email from Dodge like every couple of days about his process and status updates.
