Had an F-150 which i loved but muscle cars always drew my attention. Ford family since i was born. mustangs trucks expeditions etc so Chevy definitely wasnt top of my list when i was looking BUT!!!!
Drove it just to drive and OMG fell in love!! No regrets. Did the same as you it seems was looking loaded 2LT or 1SS. I chose the 1SS because everything else can be added in time. Cant exactly swap out an engine that easily ... No regrets so far. 3 months in!

Welcome, I also say SS/RS, but I the Camaro V6 with a manual would be awesome if you don't need mega-power. With its D.I. 3.6 liter and a great 6 speed manual it should be plenty quick for fun. And 0-60 in 5.7 seconds is very quick. Its your choice. I wanted the 426HP LS3 SS/RS manual because my last car which was a heavily modded 2006 Acura TL also with a 6 speed manual, just wasn't thrilling me enough, it had about 300HP and was quite quick. If you go for the V6 I suggest the manual, RS pkg, Boston Acoustics stereo, and the gauge pkg. More is always better, but that should be awesome. I forgot wheels, get the largest you can on the V6.

2SS/RS owner here! no regrets. I NEVER even looked at the car or test drove one prior to purchase. I was deployed when I ordered my car, and my first test drive was when I was home on R&R taking ownership. I fell in love with the car immediately, and I think you should get one. As far as what model/trim, it really depends on what you want, and what you can afford! Good luck!

Myself I bought an LS since it is a daily driver, @ 46 years old with a CDL I couldn't justify spending 8 - 10K more for the SS (although they are a SWEET car).
The V-6 has plenty of nuts for me and not having the higher insurance (I have 2 new cars, my wife's is a 2LT Malibu with the same V-6) and the added expense of premium fuel is more cost efficient. As soon as I have it paid for I am giving it to my youngest boy and getting either a Caddy CTS (-V maybe?) or will look into the Z-28. Now I will say I wish I would have at least gotten the lt or 2lt package, my wifes leather interior, connectivity package, remote starter, heated seats, etc... sure would be great in the Camaro. fwiw: I had read that the LS is governed at 116, and the LT and up @ 156 due to the speed rating of the tires. This doesn't affect me since I am not street racing it but this may sway some people. good luck with your decision and have fun shopping, and don't settle at the first place you go, and the internet is your friend when car shopping! best of luck to ya. |

Test drove a v6 auto, dealer did not have SS on the lot at the time, ordered 2SS, then test drove 1SS about 2 weeks later. Big time difference!!! No regrets!!! Love my 2SS. Good luck w/ your decision, either way, you will be ecstatic!!!

Ted the 2011's are on dealer lots. Buy a 10 only if you get a smokin deal. Don't pay msrp on a ten when you can get an 11. Just sayin.

Hey Ted, welcome to the site . A lot of it depends on what you plan to do with the car. If you want to race it then the SS is the bettter choice, but if it's going to be your daily driver then the LT might suit you better. I personally bought the 2SS/RS, manual and absolutely love it.
I guess I'll start there and see what your response is. Also if you are new here there is going to be a ton of acronyms floating around here from colors to general forum talk (IOM=Inferno Orange Metallic, WOT=Wide Open Throttle). If any of the stuff we say doesn't make sense ask and we'll be glad to clear it up for you. Welcome to Camaro5.com and let the questions begin . |

It would be my weekend car. I def won't be taking it to work. I would race it now and then. But I've always wanted a sharp and fast ride. I got t test drive a ss and felt oh so cocky driving it. And I can afford the insurance. I was looking at the ss for performance and the 6 cylinder for price. I currently drive a 05 ford focus hatchback. Im Checking around on finding the cheapest ss I can. I just want a manual and the ba sound system.
