It's not that.. I wouldn't turn down a 700 HP Camaro, but it's not the direction of the company. I want the Camaro to stick around. So GM needs to stay where they are successful..

Yep... I just don't see why a car that has destroyed its competitors from 2009-2014, would change their entire direction.,

Yes there is.. More performance for everyone. If it wasnt for the competition and technology progression we would still be driving 200Hp Pony Cars. I remember when i bought my first WS6 in 2001 it was king of the hill with 325Hp (C5Z was out with 385 but wasnt really in the same catagory) now a Maxima is 325hp.

Exactly.. and that was the last gen GT500 with better power/weight then a car expected to be announced with the 650 LT4 A year from now. Ford isint going to lay down, I fully expect a 700+ GT500, then you will read on here: well the Z is only 1 sec slower then the GT500, you cant even feel it unless your a race car driver and the Z HVAC system is far superior to that of the rustang..

No work needed. Just a press release because they already know the car makes more than advertised.

How do you top a Hellcat? How about a Helldog!

Chevy won't offer anything to top those HP numbers or track times in the given segment. End of story.

The Hellcat is one engine, put into two cars. The head guy said himself on a "Jay Leno's Garage" segment that they did this mainly because of the complaints of the weight compared to the Mustang and the Camaro. (The Challenger Hellcat is 4400lbs)
GM could very easily put the 2.3L supercharger on the LT4 and call it day if they thought hitting 700 was the answer. If they felt the Hellcat equipped Challenger and Chargers were going to be serious threat to market share. But they know two things, one that Dodge isn't going to build enough of these things to do that, and two, with their current design, they can put the LT4 as is in their chassis and do everything the Hellcat can and more. But right now, the Hellcat is subject to the guzzler tax, hard to get as Dodge put a hold on production (yes, due to unexpected demand). Now if the mystical 700 number starts rolling down a variety of assembly lines, you can bet GM will show up with vengence. |

Has there even been an official count of how many they have made yet? I'm betting Ford releasing a 700+hp GT500 will put a dent in their sales. And if there is a jump in gas prices, we may not see so much demand for these cars to begin with.

This just in from GM:
"In order to compete with the Dodge Hellcat we will incorporate a newly designed Super Charger that will produce at least 735 Horsepower" "Furthermore, in an attempt to not be outclassed by the Dodge Hellcat, we have decided to increase the weight of the next ZL1 to 4700 lbs, and addition of 850lbs from our original 6th Generation ZL1."

so if dodge is at 707 and people are betting on the GT500 to peak 700 why are so many people so happy with 650 and so hell bent on GM NOT delivering the power to compete. Do people like being underdogs? worried about MSRP? I really dont get it. People keep getting flamed for suggusting GM keep up with the pack. Alot has changed since the introduction of the 5th gen. There is fierce competition now. Dont expect Camaro sales to keep climbing if they stop delivering. Im a GM guy, im rooting for the Camaro but im very tempted now.
