Custom coolant tank and intake. HUGE HP gains!!
So, with the huge empty space above the radiator, and the big power numbers these have proved to gain in the past, we decided to make a custom coolant tank... because.. well, why not?
We made a custom tank for the CTS-V that we run a 50/50 mix of anti-freeze and water, or if you are at the track and need some extra power, throw some ice in there. We have a in ground dyno jet here at the shop, and did a back to back dyno run with just the coolant, then added ice, and saw a gain of 60whp! So if you are trying to shave some time off your quarter mile, this is an easy way to do it. Tank reservoir will be aprox 1.75 gallons. Check out the pics and let me know what you guys think. |

I like it, my question is would it be limited to certain CAIs?? What about the water drip tray, would that no longer work? Could it be done in a black finish?

What combo?
What were the before and after ECT, IAT2, weather, timing, Afr, etc... Threads like this are incredibly misleading to the average enthusiast. Are you even a paying vendor? |

Looks interesting. Are you considering putting the return line on the driverside of the tank on the end? It looks like that coolant would be stagnant. Are you designing a drain in the bottom?
Looks like the intake will swallow a small child! Last edited by Trackman; 03-04-2015 at 01:14 PM. |

I had a similar design ice box on my V and it made tremendous difference on keeping IAT2 temps down at the track.
The problem you may run into here is the location of your prototype for ZL1. Many have catch cans in that area and loosing the water tray may be a problem. Would love to an ice box along the passenger side back fire wall area. If doable, I think you will have many Customers here. Great work regardless.

Many here don't run a catch can. I for one do not. Is the airbox a no tune unit? Also, what is the cover on it? What is the drip pan everyone is talking about? Sorry....new to a forced induction car!!

Now....The $$Million Dollar$$ question!! Haha How much are you thinking of selling this setup for....Just a range?? I understand its in a prototype stage and you don't want to quote an exact number.
Thanks |

We are still working on the pricing, but I would estimate that these will be in the $500 range. The other tank we build for the CTS-V sells for just under $400, and this one is much more detailed and a little larger.

I like it. But as already noted. My catch can would be in the way. :(
