Question headers and no tune?

Mods are in my signature, any performance gains without a tune? Or do u lose hp and tq until its tuned? Getting tuned soon but just wondering

without a tune you leave some performance gains on the table that you would usually get when adding headers. Plus you would eventually get a check engine light.

I would suggest getting a good tune via dyno or a good canned tune from one of the reputable vendirs on this site. I would go with Jannetty if had to but I wound up going with a dyno tune.

I have the EXACT same mods and brand of each mod but on a LS3 and I mean exact lol. I layed down 402 pre-tune and 416 after the tune, so there ya go. It also smoothed things out a lot doing the tune.

If you are worried about voiding your warranty, then you can wait. Anything more though and you will probably need the tune (i.e. cam/etc).

if you are going to add the LT headers then you might as well get the tune to get the full benefits.

After my longtubes i went without a tune for about 3 weeks. like mentioned above, you will notice a difference but you really do leave alot of HP and torque on the table. I also have the L99 and the AFM went from annoying to unbearable, that in itself is a big reason to tune. Once you get a tune you will fall in love with your car all over again, it really transforms your car

You are only not getting the full power from the headers without the tune. I haven't tuned my car, yet but will eventually.

ok so i am gaining a little bit of hp and tq for now but after the tune i will see 100% full potential. thats cool. and yes i no i need the tune and i WANT the tune but my tuner cant get me on the dyno until next week they are very busy. hes also currently working on my uncles ZL1 so im guessing his attention is on that for the next few days and they arent open weekends.

Oh yea, you're good to go then. I drove mine for almost 2 months with headers installed waiting to get in for a tune.

It is best to get the car tuned to avoid CEL's and get the most out of your mods, however the car will still gain power and run good without a tune. I still recommend getting a tune as soon as possible.

Feel free to call, PM or email me anytime with questions.

Best regards,

Tyler
