FWD is a joke. I'd take RWD w/ snow tires any day before that econobox BS.

I drove my 94' z28 in Pittsburgh winters all through highschool on summer only tires, I'm not sure if it's because that was the only car I drove or what, but RWD in the winter doesn't seem like a big deal, keep the paint waxed and try to wash the salt off, its all you can do. I've only driven my SS in Florida and Socal but I'm guessing it wouldn't be bad at all.

lol, it doesn't have to be an "econobox" to have FWD. and they do perform better in the snow, it's just simple physics. the better traction in wet/snow covered roads and the easier assembly is the reason 95% of the cars out there are FWD

Oh sound of a V8 > sound of any import.

I had 3" turbo back on my STi.. Not a horrible sound by far! But so not a V8.

Yep nothing beats the v8. But yeah guy i worked with had an 04? Wrx and let me drive it in the snow. Car absolutely bombed through it and was a lot of fun. But doing some research the wrx is quicker than the V6 camaro. The other thing that i found interesting is most of the wrxs are made here in the good ol USA! I gotta say i was rather disappointed when i went snopping around in my camaro and eveything is from china or japan. Sad that toyota is actually the most american car on the road these days. But oh well cant change that.

But like i said the SS i just cant afford. Thats my problem with the V6 i like it but ill never be as happy with it as i would if it was a v8. Right now the wrx is just more practical for me. The other option was the 2013 silverado thats on sale right now. But im young i kinda want the performance!

If you want to buy a WRX go for it, but don't believe the crap about Toyotas being the most American cars. While Toyota and certain politicians love to perpetrate that myth, it isn't true. Check out this recent study that really digs into the details of how cars are made. It doesn't just add up 'domestic content' like most studies, but factors in where all the subcomponents are made, where the engineering is done, where the management is, etc. There are no Japanese cars in the top ten.

Oh, and FYI the Camaro comes in at 23 on the list and the Subaru Imprezza comes in at 72 so don't think you are doing America any favors by buying a Subaru!

95% of the cars a FWD due to costs. It's much easier to design and build a FWD car than a RWD car. Better performance in the rain is a good thing for grandma though. When was the last time you saw a drivers car use FWD? Oh wait... never. Econobox drive, end of story.

better performance in rain and snow is better for everybody. exactly how can better performance be bad

it' ok, you can still love RWD. it has it's advantages, and I'll give you a hug if you need it. but lets try to stick to reality here, and not forget that 99% of the drivers on the road simply view their cars as transportation
