$1.25 billion investment for Lansing Grand River plant

Additionally, the agreement includes a $1.25 billion investment for the GM Lansing Grand River plant in Michigan, which is expected to include upgrades to produce the forthcoming Chevy Corvette EV and all-electric Cadillac sedan models, which may begin production around 2027.

I could absolutely see my next vehicle purchase being an all-electric Cadillac sedan (while I keep my 2SS). Neat.

Have you seen all the problems they have been having with the Lyriq? Total sh*tshow. Complete battery drains, bricked vehicles during OTA updates, total battery replacement and numerous vehicle buybacks. I canceled my blazer EV order due to all of the numerous serious issues GM is having with their EVs.

Maybe by the time they get that plant converted and up and running they will have it solved. For now I'd say don't walk, RUN away from GM EVs for the time being.

Yeah, I've seen some issues out there. I don't think that the EV tech is quite where I need it to be, for my personal use. I need that to grow, along with the charging network nation-wide. It's getting there, but not yet. That's why, when it came time to buy new vehicles for the wife and I this year, I got my Camaro and she got the Blazer with the 2.0T (I love that engine).

I figure by the time I'm looking for my next car (I'm generally a 4-6 year guy, and wife more of a 8-10 year term), EV will be where I need it to be.

Sounds like a good plan. In my area, there is one charging station for an area of 100k+ population. Definitely not enough chargers here, yet. Long range battery tech 600+ miles, full charge in less than 10 minutes and a charging station within 15 minutes of me at all times would be wonderful. The sooner the better. It would be awesome if they can get at least 2 of those by the time you are ready to buy

There is a Cadillac forum with a section dedicated to the Lyriq. The volume of issues is un-real. There's even a section for people who have refused their vehicle after waiting on the order for over 2 years. In some areas there is actually a supply of refused vehicles available for immediate sale on dealer lots and yet they sit. The issues range from relatively minor problems to some that appear to be actually dangerous. Incredible!!!

To be somewhat fair to the Lyriq, killing the battery during OTA updates has been plaguing the ICE fleet too( Corvette, trucks, etc).

The issue is weird for the Lyriq given you have the HV battery to recharge the 12V battery, but the OTA update process must interrupt the 12V charge monitoring/recharge programs.

If you are looking to purchase, here ya go

https://my.caredge.com/buy?radius=70...&sortOrder=asc

You can change the zip code in the search. Almost 1800 of them available for sale across the country. Some have been sitting for over 3 months.

If you want to see the threads where people are/have refused orders, look here
