My car vs Girlfriends dad :)
Okay this story may not be how it sounds in the title but something funny I thought I'd share! So today I met my girlfriends dad. And sure enough I take my car there parked right in front of the restaurant we are meeting at. So keep in mind I drive an 1LE with the dual mode and it has a rotofab and hfc so it's pretty loud. Anyways I pull up and he's already inside. That made me happy because i didn't want him thinking I was some cocky jerk of a kid who drove a loud sports car lol. Anyways dinner went fine but now as we left I got into my car and I see him looking at me as I get into my car, I turn it on and sure enough the whole parking lot hears it LOL. I see him staring at me at this point lol. Now I'm pullin out not even pressing gas just slowly letting go of the clutch so it didn't make noise cuz I didn't want him to hear how loud it was haha. So basically I guess my concern is if I were a dad how would i feel knowing my daughter is getting in the car with some kid with a loud ass fast Camaro lol. Any of you older gentleman care to share with me haha?

"Anything she sees, I cut off."
"I have a shovel, a .45 and my watch is ten minutes fast." Any of us "older" guys know exactly what that car means, especially if we have daughters. I would already have a hole dug in my cornfield ready to show you during our next meeting. |

Not knowing your age, her age, or her Dad's age... it's very hard to say but, I can assure you that no Dad is thrilled to see his baby girl ride off into the sunset with a new boyfriend (unless he really hated the last one).
I'll make the assumption that you are around 20 since you referred to yourself twice as a "kid". That would make the Dad probably mid-40s. That's old enough for him to have been raised with values such as respecting your elders, being polite and having manners, and acting like a gentleman around the ladies. If you displayed these qualities as his first impression of you, you'll probably be okay... loud car and all. He's more concerned that you treat his baby right - I hope you opened her door for her when she got in your car.

If I had a son, he'd have a car just like yours!
I do have a daughter.. and if you showed up in that car to take her on a date, I'd be very worried about you driving too fast and hurting her. We'd have a little talk.. just you and I... if you get my drift.

I'd be concerned because of the obvious, her riding in a high performance car..we would have the same talk if you rolled up in a pinto..decisions have consequences...

I'd be thinking "Oh No! He's just like I was when I was that age!" - Pretty scary thought...
Make sure you show common sense and respect, and you should be okay. I drove up in a '69 Road Runner with glass packs when I started dating my GF (now wife)

Respect and common sense will get you a lot further with the parents. Get to know them, don't just be that guy that shows up and leaves with their daughter. The last time I was dating a girl, I insisted on meeting her parents and took the time to get to know them. You can imaging the surprise my girlfriend had when I mentioned I wanted to meet her parents. That was about 20 years ago, I married her. |

It's got a 5 Star crash rating, so tell him he has nothing to worry about.

Give him a tour of your car. When he sees how little room there is in the backseat, he will be happy.
I have a 21 year old daughter and if her boyfriend showed up in a modded car I would not be thrilled. I would invite him into my garage to check out all my cars/motorcycles and talk his ear off. Before he knew it, it would late and past her curfew. Oh well. I had a friend that would insist on taking the drivers license from his daughter's dates. He would give it back if they returned home before her curfew. He figured not only did he have the guy's name and address, he may drive safer knowing he didn't have his license on him. Once curfew passed, the license was tucked under his pillow.

My daughters don't date, but even at 13 and 3, I find new and unique ways to hate anything with a Y chromosome that shows an interest, and yes that goes for the 3 year old too. I don't go on play dates just because I don't like word date used in reference with my little girl. As for the OP, if the dad's not into cars, he really won't like the OP. I would not be as concerned with a guy showing up in a well modded Camaro as I would be in some ricer POS. I have a nephew who has driven nothing but Hondas and totaled 3. All his cars were quiet. My first car was a 71 Fury and I drove it stupidly despite it being dog slow and the back seat was the size of a couch.

I think i met your girlfriends dad last night. You will find that you can be 46 years old and still get a lecture on how loud your car is.
