Haha the funny thing is, I go to a school comprised of mostly rich jock kids; there are 3-4 Nissan 370Z's, a few Hummers, a couple Mustangs, a Dodge Charger or two..I feel good because not one single person owns ANY generation Camaro at my school.

On a side note; I've been thinking and I do agree that getting a used 2010-11 model would be a better idea cost wise.

He's in Oregon, You have to let them pump gas for you like Jersey. It is illegal to pump your own gas.

Used would be a better way to go. Lower payments and insurance. Appearance wise, if you keep it clean most people won't know what year it is and these cars seem to be holding up nicely with miles on them.

Also, this thing about being 16 and 426 HP don't mix is nonsense. I had a 12 second Camaro when I was 17 and lived through it. Just drive smart and resist the temptation to feel the power all the time. I'm 54 now and still gotta feel the power from time to time.

I agree with you completely. My friend is the one who would be trying to pressure me into taking it 60-80 mph on a straight street; I've been responsible with everything else I do, so I don't see why handling a car like this should be any different. I think once I get behind the wheel, I'd be tempted to test its power, but I know that there are limits and reasons to not be so foolish haha.

If your parents have bad credit, it's probably not a good idea to saddle them and yourself with a $30,000 car. It's your first car, it's not supposed to be nice. Get a POS like most people have when you're 16 and ensure your family doesn't have financial trouble. Life is long, you'll be able to have a nice car eventually if you go to school and work hard.

Ok well I will give you my opinion of a 16 year old with a SS 6spd. I am 16 and the car is my dads. Whatever you do be careful. I drive the SS very little but when I do I respect the power. I personally think the manual is more fun to drive. I would love to have a new Camaro but I myself cant afford it. I am going to purchase a 98-02 Camaro SS instead. A lot cheaper, same gas mileage and of course T-Tops. I'm not saying don't get a new Camaro but if u do be safe and respect the power the car has. And if you must have some fun , second gear pull to maybe 4500 is pretty fun with the nannies on of course. I don't trust myself with that myself driving with those off just yet.

I'm not gonna crap on the idea of you getting a nice car when your 16, but I will agree that going for the V6 is your best bet. If you get a 2LT/RS, you still get all the ammenities with a powerful engine. I had a V8 Lexus before, traded it in for the camaro, and now get better gas mileage and more HP.

No shame in the V6 because in many cases, this v6 is more powerful than a lot of v8s.

Why would a v6 be faster than a 2SS v8?

I can't keep quiet any longer. With this comment it shows you have no idea what you are getting into. I fear that with you behind the wheel of 426 hp that you won't be around very long. Back when I got my first car it was a straight 6 with a 3 speed and about 100 hp. Later I got a 78 Z-28 and that was no way near as fast as a 2011 2SS, but I did some real dumb things with that. Get a used 2011 Toyota Carolla and be alive to keep your dream of owning a Camaro 2SS.

On the money side of things, in this economy I would not put the extra financial pressure on my parents to make payments on my car. If they can afford that much of a dp I'd just ask them to get me something small and economical to drive and pay cash for it. Then you'd only have to have liability ins.

At 16 I drove a 1970 Plymouth Road Runner stick shift. I payed $100.00 per month just for liability in 1976. I worked at two different jobs because I couldn't keep ins, gas, and tires on it with just one. LOL

It's a lot more satisfying when you can do it on your own dime.

I could have told you he had no clue what he was getting into. Half the reason he wants a Camaro is for the halos. Really? Buy an Audi with those LEDs j. The headlights
