Apple Carplay doesn't always work.

So quick question. Has anyone with Apple Carplay had issues with functionality? It seems like it's very random in my car. If I plug in the phone to the car my music can play, but the actual functioning of the Carplay feature is completely random. Sometimes it works, but most of the time it doesn't register. When it does work it's flawless.

It would just be nice to know because I avoided buying Navigation because the Maps feature of Carplay. If it doesn't work, then I can't see the map. Which makes me regret not ordering Nav. LOL

Mine has worked flawlessly so far...I also didn't get navigation because of the apple play... Make sure your cable is good...That's the only Idea I have that would be causing it it to work...

I have the same issue regarding the Android software. I believe it's an issue on the phones software. I do have workaround regarding Android that probably will work for the Iphone. Before going to your car just restart your phone. This has worked 100% of the time for me so far.

I have this issue once in a while. I found the problem was related to if I had my phone connect Via bluetooth and then connected to car play sometimes it wouldn't detect the carplay... I found that if I go in and disconnect the bluetooth device unplug from carplay and plug it back in it all worked again.

Does the location of the USB jack bother anyone else? I'm always feeling around blind trying to get the damn thing in

I just have a designated cord for in my car. It never leaves. I will say though it took me like 25 minutes on the first day to figure out where I'm supposed to plug in...

I've found unplugging it and plugging it back in does the trick when this happens.

I bought a 1-ft Anker USB-to-Lightning cable on Amazon, plug my iPhone 6 in and keep it in the center console. Make sure your iOS software is up-to-date and the cable you're using isn't just a charging cable.

I also have my phone connect to Bluetooth for short drives when I don't feel like plugging it in and it works fine.

I noticed this unstable behavior with both Android and iOS. Yesterday I was not able to get Android Auto running at all. Apple car today was pretty flaky too. I used multiple cables for my phones but did not use the original lighting cable from Apple. This will be another test.

It worked well until IOS 10.1 upgrade and no improvement with subsequent minor upgrades. Frequently disconnects or voice command for calling doesn't activate. Very frustrating. iPhone 6 Plus.

Wow. I have 6S and my Apple CarPlay works every time. Maybe it's the cable?
