How Full is Too Full?
I have been told by others in the road course scene to have your oil level a "bit" above full if you have any aftermarket oil cooling and to help mitigate any likelihood of oil starvation.
I have been doing this for the past few years on oil changes, keeping the oil level about 1/8" to 1/4" above the "full" dot on the dipstick. Having a mishimoto oil cooler also takes about 1 quart more as well. This last oil change, I did the usual 8 quarts + 1 for the cooler, ran the engine for a few minutes to get the fresh oil run through, and my oil level is higher then it I normally have it. It's around 1/2" above the full dot. Is this too full? Or am I still in the green? I don't want it over-full and have oil aeration due to the crank being semi-submerged. That will be a bad day. Thanks!

Go easy for a 500miles and see if it eats up a bit. Its not too bad but I would not go racing like that.

That's what I feared. I figured it was pretty close to being over full. Don't know why it is about 1/4 quart higher then usual.
I'll keep an eye on it. Thanks for the help!

Put another filter on it. That will drop it down to what you need.

That's a great idea! I was going to try and be quick with the drain plug and get about 1/4 quart out.
