Difference between 2011/2012 Steering Wheel

Anyone know why Chevy changed the Camaro steering wheel in 2012? Personally I thought the 2010/2011 one with the shiny "CAMARO" right in the center was awesome.

Comfort I assume (but you know what happens when you assume). While the 10-11 steering wheel did look better IMO, the 12 forward is much more comfortable.

The old one wasn't very ergonomic. It looked good but wasn't very functional.

Customers were saying the steering wheel controls were too hard to reach. That's what I remember hearing. Personally I think they just went back to a simplified bin part. Probably a cost savings measure.

I'm not a fan of the 2012+ wheel personally but there are plenty on here that like them.

Comfort for sure, I hate my 2010 compared to the 2012. The 2012 is much fatter and has better shape and the thumb hangers work much better. IMO

I think the 2010-11 wheel looks cooler but I suspect that the 2012-14 wheel is a lot more comfortable to drive with.

I think it had to do with money. The camaro was the only model using the steering wheel in 10-11. From 12 on, all the Chevrolet cars have the same steering wheel.

I like the wheel on my 2010 but agree that the other newer wheel is more comfortable like the 2013 i drove around.

I'm not a fan of 2012+ wheel either. It's one of the reasons why I won't upgrade my 11.

Aesthetics-wise I prefer the 2010/11. Comfort-wise however, I think the 2012+ takes it. I personally prefer the 2010/11. It just looks cool/unique IMO.

I find that the newer designed one GM uses in some of their other products. (Ie. The Chevy Cruze). Although it is understandable why manufactures would do that to save some cash, keep costs down, I like the idea of the Camaro having something unique.

I love my 2011 steering Wheel comfortable and easy to reach controls.. Not a fan of the 2012's and having it look like every other car in the chevy fleet.. I mean Hell the Corvette steering wheel was the same one that they put in the HHR lol..

GM has been doing this for well over 40 years. For example, the steering wheel in a 1965 Corvette is the same wheel, with a different center cap and wheel rim material, as a 1970 Buick GS455

The 'comfort' wheel from '70 Vettes is the same wheel as in a '70 GSX, with a different center cap.

You just haven't been paying attention

I agree with this... I like a unique steering wheel that was made for the car.

and I didn't like the C6 Vettes with the same steering wheel as my dads HHR and our Cobalt..
