well Brady's agent issued a statement criticizing Goodell. I don't think that will work.

The good news is i just saw Pete Rose commenting about it on Fox 1 .
he thinks its a stiff suspension

I guess I can see the 4 games suspension when factoring in that Brady did not supply the electronic records that were asked for. The Wells people allowed for Brady's attorney's to pre-screen stuff and all, so no naked Giselle pics would have been leaked. I guess I don't get that if the prescreen happens, can't the Wells people just say "hey we got limited info". I don't really know.

Say I accept the Wells report (I think it's weak) they concluded it was just Brady and those two egg heads. So why penalize the Patriots as a whole? A 1st round pick? That's a wild penalty. 1 million dollars? Wild stuff.

Oh well. I guess appeal is next then see. Too funny if the return game for Brady is week 6 vs. Colts. SO WEIRD THAT WOULD BE THE CASE.

In any case, in my book, you do the crime you do the time, then your square with the house again.
The reason the NFL punished the Patriots is the same reason the Saints got dinged for something a few players were doing with the defensive coordinator. Ignorance does not excuse you, per the Commissioner. If I'm a Patriots fan, it's okay to be upset about this, I think most fans for any team would be, regardless if this was Russell Wilson, Andrew Luck, or even Derek Carr. That being said, if I'm a Patriots fan, I'm doing a happy dance because you still got off a lot easier than I think you should have.

The Saints lost their DC and HC for the year, their assistant HC for 6 games, had multiple players suspended, and loss of picks/fines. This could have very easily been the Patriots....the fact you lost 2 picks and Tom Brady for only 4 games (which could be reduced upon appeal)(I wouldn't hold my breath on that btw), I'd be very happy about that.

At the end of the day, had Brady not lied and acted like a smug bastard, he probably wouldnt have gotten suspended. The fact he chose to clam up pretty much convinced anyone outside of Patriot Nation that he was guilty. If it were me, you'd have to pull me down from a megaphone screaming my innocence...

Okay, they play them first game back. Same thing.

Besides, he's going to appeal it. Way too strict of a punishment.

He could appeal the length of the suspension, however I could also see the league denying the appeal if he continues to not cooperate with the NFL...something he's really continuing to do with his vehement denials he did anything wrong. Best thing for him to do now is to admit he was wrong, come clean...and ask for mercy so that the penalty is reduced to 2 games.

Agreed. Do you think he would really admit it though?

Too strict? The guy is lucky he wasn't banned for the season. He knowingly participated in breaking the rules. Guys for PEDS get 4 games automatic... and that's less of an impact on the game than deflating a ball is...

More to the point, if he had been doing drugs and had missed a drug test, he'd have received an automatic suspension of like 8 games.

Look, Brady's suspension won't get reduced simply because the guy won't cooperate and won't admit to his part in this. All 3 people have refused to talk about it and none of them are screaming their innocence in the matter.

PED and substance abuse violations are 4 games unless a repeat offender.

Well if he was being suspended for deflating balls then maybe 4 games is acceptable, but the suspension was handed down for not cooperating with the investigation.

Yes, but my point was that if you miss a test, it's the same as a positive result. Automatic suspension in pretty much every instance.

Still....smoking weed won't impact ANY game....and you'd get 4 games... actively changing the ball to a point that makes it easier to catch and hold on to definitely deserves a solid suspension.

The fact that the NFLPA isn't even trying to defend Brady says VOLUMES of the lack of support he has in the NFL right now...

He was found to be involved in the whole ordeal, which in a civil case in the courts, would make him found guilty.

Look, his lack of cooperation and his habitual lying is why he got suspended. I truly believe, had this been any other team than perhaps the Saints, he would have probably gotten a game suspension max....if that...

However, since its the Patriots, they had to drop the hammer..
