They both look flipping fantastic! That's the way it should come from the factory. Sometimes less is more and after seeing what you've done it almost makes the factory trim look a little too overdone in aluminum.

I'll definitely be doing this to my car. Thanks for sharing!

Why do you want to sand it?
I used Krylon Super Maxx without having to do anything to prep it other than cleaning it for any oils and such.

Description of the product:
Krylon Supermaxx Flat, Black:
Superbond technology
No sanding or priming
Ultimate strength
Maximum rust protection
Bonds to tough surfaces
Color: black

Just using the default sucker cup with it attached to the side. There's a perfect spot that fits just right. You can have it either on the driver or passenger side.

Personally I think it sucks. I'll leave it stock until a professional aftermarket company comes up with something better. To each it's own.

Dipped (hate using that word) mine using the Rust-oleum black and clear gloss sprays; 4-5 layers of black, 2 layers of clear and 2 more black. Not sure if the clear did anything there, but it was drying too glossy for me so I sprayed more black until I liked what I saw. I don't even notice these things anymore, they really blend into the dash, which is what I wanted.

Looks good! As for me, one of the reason for painting the trim was to get rid of the sun glare, so using clear coat was never an option.

Doesn't that cellphone holder bother you at all? Camaro is already notorious for bad visibility, and adding that on top of the dash would blind you even more.

I am doing everything I can for better visibility. Since after ruining my wheels on the curb, I have even installed the front camera just cover the area that I can't see.

Don't the GM interior door trim kits replace the middle piece? I'm not talking about the knee pad kits, I'm talking about the interior door trim kit--here is a link to the red color, but they come in black, red, blue, white & yellow:

I want to do the black door trim kit with my adrenaline red interior--I am getting the red knee pads and I think that the red handle, red leather and red knee pads will be too much. Has anyone else installed these door trim kits?

It's about as matte as the rest of the dash material... doesn't reflect sunlight like stock shiny finish did and blends right in.

As for the phone holder, not sure what needs to bee seen there - it's mostly just blocking the view of the hood. I also don't get comments about poor visibility. What do people want to see? I get that the greenhouse is smaller than other cars and that gives the impression of being closed in and you see less of the scenery... but it doesn't really affect driving once you get used to the car, which took me a day at most ¯\_(ツ)_/¯

It's great if it doesn't bother you. I just don't like to have anything that gets in the way. My personal preference I guess

P.S. that use of Katakana for the emoji is brilliant!!! Fist time I've seen that.

There's another thread I remember reading that said that trim just parts off straight out to the driver. Apparently it's super easy to remove although I haven't tried it myself.

I used one of those cell-phone screen removal tools (it's plastic, so it doesn't leave any scratches) to pry the trim a bit. It just comes off straight towards the driver.

Be careful though! I don't think you can buy replacements... they're sold as part of the dash!
