When you say M2/3/4 I’m assuming you mean the current Gen. Remeber the ss 1le came out closer to the prior Gen m cars and the SS 1le smokes those cars aside from the M2 CS and whatever the special M3/4 is called. I do agree with you though that Chevy should have given a power bump to the SS 1le. If Ford can do it Chevy should have as well. It is definitely a bit underpowered especially against cars that put up similar times on road courses.

Otherwise if you're talking about keeping up with GT3, a $250k Camaro will beat them, I've seen GT4R race cars on sale for a little over $100k. Ok, not a fair fight but I want one, unfortunately out of my budget right now... They are about 3250 lbs and 500 hp with a sequential 6sp.

I find that extremely hard to believe. Only reason I can think of is they aren’t downshifting to a low enough gear to be in their power band. Both cars weigh about the same except the gt350 makes 70 more HP and it pulls all the way to red line whereas our cars die at like 5,800. I just test drove one and did a few highway pulls in it and to me it felt noticeably faster from 80+ mph. Only other thing I can think of is you’re getting on power sooner then they are which I can 100% see happening.

LT1 has variable valve timing. Switching to slicks or SC3Rs will have a better payback depending on the track. The Camaro has advantages with its great brakes.
Do some research on YouTube for comps on your track. My guess is you'll find several examples of slower straight line cars faster than "super cars" because of set up, tires, brakes, seats, driving.

1) Cost - it was basically 20k+- to go from all stock to a proper heads/cam/exhaust package. 2) There is still the 4th/5th gear grand canyon gap. Ken

Just switch to Hoosier R7 tires, add a flex fuel sensor, and get tuned for E85.

I can't argue the 4/5 gearing. I would love to put a 10spd in my car someday.
