Oil Leak
Good afternoon everyone, I'm looking for some help in regards to an oil leak my 2010 Camaro 2SS 6.2 LS3 is having. I have under 65,000 miles and did an oil change not too long ago and now a message comes up indicating the oil is low and to add oil. I'm just half way till my next oil change. There isn't any oil stains in my parking spot at home or at work but there is oil under the car. Also, when I drive, I've been told that smoke comes out of my exhaust when I accelerate. I'm not sure where it is coming from and was wondering if anyone else has experienced this issue. I've tried doing research and some state it could be the rear main seal or the oil pressure sensor.

Did you check the dipstick to see if is actually low?

OP: The 10 SS had oil pan gasket leaks when new. Big job and mine was replaced under warranty years ago.
It sounds like you may have a more serious problem though. Good luck getting it repaired.

Yes WoodBoss and the dip stick indicates that it has very little oil.

Sounds like a rear main leak to me. That was a documented issue with the 2010 I believe. No pooling on the ground but a big oil stain around the leak.

Not the rear main seal. Like I said above, it was the oil pan gasket.

I'm gonna clean the bottom of my car and add a dye to see where the leak is coming from. Hopefully it's nothing major

Might add some oil while you are at it. Maybe check it more often. Dont want you grenading your engine.

Check around the oil filter & make sure it sealed properly. If it didn't, it might only leak when under pressure, which would explain why you don't see any drops/spots where you park. The leaking oil will blow back under the car while your driving. Hope it's something as simple as this ... good luck

It's probably the rear main seal I had the same problem and when I would accelerate the oil would spray on to the exhaust and make smoke. I replaced the rear main seal and it stopped.

Also check the oil cooler which often has been abandoned and blocked off from leaking problems by some, some smoke especially modified coming on hard acceleration is to be expected going richer. Good Luck, tightening the oil pan gaskets and such is a normal maintenance issue on 50 billion old cars with cork gaskets, but your not cork. Getting underneath the car is the pain, I would spray it clean with carb cleaner and rag underneath, then later drive a little and re-inspect as it would show the area where it originates.
