Muffler delete loses lots of torque?

I feel like after doing my muffler delete i have lost lots of torque.

second gear feels like their is almost no pull almost like im driving a minivan.

i have a cel for the gas cap it looks like would that result in a limp mode?

i feel like my car is really slow lately and when i drove my brothers pretty much stock genesis coupe 2.0 it feels almost faster and pushes you into your seat like craaazy and the 0-60 on that car is like 6.4 seconds.

im very upset right now with my car performance. i feel like something is wrong.

could the muffler delete be putting the car computer in limp mode?

thanks guys

What size are those rims and how much do they weigh? Could be part of it if they are heavier than the stock steelies.

they are 21s but i have had them before and this power loss came after the straight pipe i would say.

i might go to the dealer and just test drive some of the v6 camaros there to get an idea of how fast mine is.

do you think the cel or straight pipe has something to do with it?

should i maybe disconnect the battery? would that help?

thanks

most LS engines need some back pressure... do you have your cats removed as well?

Edit: whoops you have a v6... not sure

I would disconnect the battery, and/or pull the fuses (yes I know the fuse pull is mainly or the v8) but something has to be wrong not to be a downer but losing about 45-50 pounds it's should be peppier. Keep us updated

thanks man will try that tomorow.

I was expecting either a little more power or no difference between my american thunder flowmasters i had on and straight pipes.

maybe the computer in the car still thinks the car has the flowmaster at's and never relearned the straight pipes.

but i hear this computer relearns everything automatically.

hmmmmmm.

honestly the car feeeeels sooooooo slow in second though it used to be fun to pull in second but it feels like all the torque is gone!

No problem I think it's just relearning and may need some more time driving it, as very one knows our cars is basically a computer. Just like my MRT's had three basic sounds SUPER loud in the first 500 miles, toned down a little bit, now sounds amazing especially with the decel pop if you search on here, I believe you might find other people muffler delete threads and can ask them if they shared this same problem

Disconnect the battery and give it 100 miles of easy driving. Then test it. The disconnecting the battery resets the ECU and makes the car re learn everything. Can't hurt to do it. Also, you stated you have a CEL. Where did that come from? That could be it?

the cel is from a gas cap leak or something like that. supposedly autozone said its not a biggie. i dont think that would cause engine to go into limp mode though...

just disconnected the battery how long should i wait before connecting it back?

We had another member run into a similar problem when they replaced the intake manifold. Said the car ran slow, but after clearing some past CELs, the car woke up.

Hopefully this will help you as well.

gas cap is not the problem...what is the code?if the light turns on for the gas cap..then its an evap line..could be that the gas cap is not good or not closed properly..but it will not cause ur car to go into limp mode..i did a muffler delete. and i feel no difference..i still had backpressure,,now with my tune i dont as much cuz of the cam i beleave.,but clearing the code wont help anything unless u fixed the problem/..please get us the code and we can try to help. if the gas cap was the problem and u tightend it it should go off after several starts,,i would def try the battery disconnect overnighjt
