Hello,
I have a 2013 SS Camaro and I'm seeing a lot of under steer during tight turns in autocross (Front end feels like it is skipping on the pavement), I have a similar alignment setup as mentioned in previous posts except I think the toe is reversed front/rear
LF -1.7 Camber RF -1.7 Camber
6.2 Caster 6.0 Caster
.08 Toe .11 Toe
Total Toe .19
Steer Ahead -.01
LR -1.5 Camber RR -1.5 Camber
-.05 Toe -.05 Toe
Total Toe -.10
Thrust Angel 0.00

I have Ridetech Coilovers (front 13 clicks from full rear 4 clicks from full), BMR Sway Bars (full stiff front/back), Sphoon Toe Links/Trailing Arms, and am running a square 285/30/20's (300 TW Michelin Pilot Super Sports). Does having this toe setup contribute/cause understeer? It seemed better last year running 275 Front and 315 Rear Nitto NT05's (200 TW) tires but I don't think I was running as hard and less camber. Definitely doing tires next year (295 RE71 Front and probably 315 Nitto NT05 Rear), but not sure if that alone is going to fix my issue.

What diameter are your sway bars?

Question

Tons of info in here. I am just about to put new tires on my stock 2014 SS 1LE that I plan to take to a three autocross events next month so i want to do an alignment after the tires but before the event. I have seen several recommendations by Pete for this

Front Camber -1.00
Front Toe 0.00
Rear Camber -0.50
Rear Toe IN 0.12
Total Rear Toe IN 0.24

I was thinking about going with this

Front Camber -1.25
Front Toe 0.00
Rear Camber -1.00
Rear Toe IN 0.12
Total Rear Toe IN 0.24

Can this be achieve from a standard alignment shop without any modifications. Will the set up I am thinking about kill tires. I just drive it on weekends and to a few events. Any help would be greatly appreciated!!

How, ummm, "enthusiastic" is your weekend driving, particularly the cornering? Have you made any mods to increase suspension roll stiffness?

This car is a weekend car. I hope to take it to a few auto crosses every few months. I just got the car a few weeks ago so my first event with her will be on the 23rd. But I have three others lined up. What are your thoughts.

Justice Pete's post (#438) and his online "Book") contain tables with a variety of settings depending on the expected use. But that doesn't mean you must only set to those numbers exactly. For example, if your typical weekend driving is still harder in the corners than it is for most people and you've got the autocrossing in there as well, you might want to use camber settings somewhere between "Aggressive Street" and "Road Course". How far toward 'Road Course" probably depends on how much autocrossing and how seriously you're competing in addition to how hard the rest of the driving really is. Can't pass up the challenge from any corner if the road ahead is clear? Bet you could run -1.75° front camber .

Side note to Pete: -0.080° for OE FE4 front camber seems awfully low and looks suspiciously like a typo (from -0.80°, which is more like what I see for front camber preferred specs on a variety of strut front suspensions).

Justice Pete,
They are 29mm front, and 32mm rear (heavy-wall DOM tubing BMR SB039).

I don't see why it wouldn't. You do have the little threaded hole in the knuckle, don't you? It's there to stop you from going too far negative and/or provide fine adjustment from a little further negative than desired back out to where you want it.

Set the front bar to full soft to create some bias in bar sizes. Take a drive and report back.

Thanks Pete. Should i print off any instructions to give to the shop tech? The one i called said they charge by the hour for custom alignments, so i figured any help I could give them would save me some $$.

Thanks again!!
