I hope all goes well with the repairs.

Back in 2001, a guy in a K5 blazer sideswiped my '97 Camaro while I was standing next to it, filling it with gas. Huge scrape down the front left fender. He stopped after he hit it, and then pulled out into traffic. The filling station was at a Costco, and it was busy as hell. I took off after him on foot and got him out to talk to me. He was like "oh, I didn't realize I hit you".

And then he gave me bogus info. I thought I was good since I got his license info and an ins policy number. But he didn't live at that address anymore, and the policy had terminated. Effing scumbag...I'll catch up to him in hell

In most cases, people on here would be telling you "sounds like the perfect time to get yourself a ZL1 bumper"...so I'll say it first...Sounds like the perfect time to get yourself another ZL1 bumper!
Glad to hear the guy did the right thing. Funny we all know what that is, but it is so difficult for most people to do it for some reason. Good on him.

On a side note, are you gonna replace the bumper or are they gonna fix it?
I'm going to replace the entire front fascia but will use most of the parts that i have to keep the cost down for the guy. I called him and asked if he wanted to pay for the damage with insurance or out of pocket and he said that he would pay for it himself which to me seems real nice.

The damage is not a lot but i cannot say that its minor since the bumper in person looks more damaged than in the picture due to the color.

Oh and the guy had no damage to his truck since he had a trailer ball hitch that's why i only have damage on that side and not the entire bumper.

That's cool, some people still choose to do the right thing even when nobody is looking.

I agree ! But the problem is finding them amongst all the bad ones. Good for him and I'm also happy for you. Atleast it bring some calm to your nerves to know that someone owned up to their mistake. Nice car !!!

You know, you should go to the dealer and get an estimate so they can re-order you the correct bumper for your vehicle per your VIN.

Hope everything works out for you, good thing to hear your safe and did not have any bodily injuries.

Nice...someone hit my parked car yesterday and drove off like nothing happened. The worst thing about it though is that I didn't notice the damage until I got home.

In reality it should just be what we do. No reward needed.
I agree to a point but that you should do is write him a hand written note thanking him and explaining how it was unexpected now days where people usually don't own up to their actions.

In the last three years I have had three incidents in parking lots where no one has owned up to there mistake. It sucks but I pride myself in that if I F.U. then I have to pay the consequences and I know many do, we just don't usually hear about it. Thanks for sharing.

If he did that he wouldn't still have the ZL1 bumper... I don't think he should do that lol
