First thing I said on the first page.

It's not terrible but it's not that impressive. Instrumented testing may prove to be better. That or the run flats are to blame. It should stop really well being so much lighter.

I just noticed a subtle nuance in the press release.

"The other Gen Six Camaro coupe models are commensurately quick, with the 275-hp (205) 2.0L Turbo delivering 5.4-second 0-60 performance and a 14.0-second quarter-mile, with the six-speed manual. With the available, 335-hp (250 kW) 3.6L V-6 and eight-speed automatic, the Camaro zips to 60 mph in 5.1 seconds and down the quarter-mile in only 13.5 seconds."

Why did they post the turbo 4's numbers with the manual transmission and the V6 with the Auto?

Because the manual t4 was .10 quicker than the auto t4, its all in the graph at the bottom of the OP.

The turbo IMO is really for the person who just wants the Camaro for looks and great MPG/DD. (then again, with the AFM in the auto V6, you get even great MPG).
If you are talking about the more traditional pony car buyer then yes the turbo I-4 and V-6 is if you don't care about performance.

However if this attracts a different demographic (for the turbo I-4 Camaro) expect to see 2.0T Camaros pushing about 600BHP.

I agree to a point. But if this is the same 8 speed found in the Z06 then I say definitely get the manual for performance driving. ( unless you are drag racing) the 8 speed auto is a slush box compared to a true dual clutch set up. I prefer rowing my own gears, although a nice DSG tranny isn't so bad sometimes. I'm really surprised GM hasn't implemented a Dual Clutch tranny yet in lieu of a traditional automatic.

I was thinking the same thing. Even with the run flats, the extra weight savings should be putting the stop from 60-0 around 105'-107'. 117' seems really far and a bit off.

If they're saying this car is faster on course than the previous 1LE, I don't see it with these performance numbers. Still impressive but for the weight loss, I was kind of expecting more. I think GM is purposely holding back for future model enhancements for the ZL1, Z28 and hopefully a 1LE. The chassis is a masterpiece.

So hopefully everyone that was certain they were being "lied to" if GM didn't deliver can go into that thread and make peace.

Who cares what people choose to drive. Your balls aren't any bigger driving a stick.

This is impressive no matter what you chose to drive. Automatic will be faster in a straight line while if you want to roll though the gears you can do so if you'd like.

i don't understand how this is turning into an auto vs manual debate. they posted the fastest times for the trim level. The auto is faster in a straight line, end of story.

anyway, awesome numbers! glad they were serious about the weight loss.

I like how the 4 banger is on par with Ford's ecoboost stang. Time for Ford to go back to the drawing board for next year.
