Because when you compare 3900 (+50 gut lbs) to 3685 (+50 gut lbs)... You're still over 200 lbs lighter.

inclined to agree here( IF 1LE version was offered). Impressive "claimed" numbers thus far. GM FTW

So its a given that the SS is a deadly weapon (could catch a C7 driver with his pants down maybe) but those T4 and V6 times are VERY impressive. A V6 A6 could hang very close to a Gen 5 SS M6 if the driver isn't paying attention.

So according to GM the new base SS stops 3 feet shorter from 60 than the 1le.

Some are saying that GM lies on weight and the proof is in the ATS-V being over 3700lbs when GM says it weighs 3700lbs. Well GM doesn't say it weighs 3700lbs, they say it weighs "3700lbs estimated". Chevy is telling us straight up what the 1ss weighs as a "base" model (manual trans). There is no room for error here. It's probably not weighed with a full tank of gas, but that's the weight.

They say curb weight.

It is full tank.

I am inclined to think they will at some point offer a "1LE" type performance package. Keep in mind the differential gear ratios are heavily influenced by the CAFE standard. Offering a faster rear end in a 1LE package allows for most SS cars to give a bit better FE to meet the CAFE standard, but also allows track/race enthusiasts to get the faster rear if they so choose.

GM has always engineered their cars thinking in terms of ounces and pounds. The rest of the world thinks in terms of grams and kilograms.

The ATS was the first car GM designed thinking in terms of grams.

You see the results.

GM shows 3875lbs for the 5th gen 1LE. MT test shows 3886lbs for the same. 11lbs...that's pretty damn close. More fanboys in denial over there. No reason to believe any greater difference than that.

Thumbs up

Well done GM. Those are fantastic acceleration numbers. Can't wait to see the performance numbers on the next Z car.
