Actual Gloss Black Plastidipped SS Wheels

I really do like the stock SS/RS wheels on these cars but just wish they were black. So i decided to dip them instead of powdercoat or paint. Total cost was less than $100 and it took me an after noon basically. I used about 1/3 of a gallom of Black Plastidip and about a quart of DipPearl Topcoat for the gloss. Come on all you plastidip nay sayers, tell me they dont look great. I dare you!

So how do you handle the area where the lug nuts contact the rim?
You cut that way or what happens when you tighten them down.

Yknow thats a great question and a problem that i encountered for the first time yesterday. What i did is dipped my finger in the plastidip (the DipPearl Topcoat specifically but it could be the black or even a little bit of paint thinner) and rubbed it on the bottom of the lug nut where it contacts the wheel. When wet plastidip touches dry plastidip, it has a tendency to reliquify it. So if you just use a little dab on your finger and put it on the lug nut just before putting it on the stud, it wont grab the dip at all. Worked like a charm!
