I am doing a budget motor build. Drop in rods and pistons, cam, vvt and dod delete, head studs. Also a mild trans build from 42autosports and a converter. Also some bmr stuff and a 15” wheel brake kit I have had laying around. I hope to have it all running in a month or so.

sounds real nice parish

what cam specs did you end up settling with?

can't wait to hear about the dyno/butt dyno results.

I went with a patrickG spec cam. 230/238 .635"/.635" 116LSA +2

I don’t know much about cams or if that is aggressively or mild. I did loose a point of compression with the pistons.

I like to play with the hp/et calcs and I also like to try and predict my hp/lb of
Boost before i goto the dyno. It will be interesting to see where I end up.

Cam = +10%
Pistons = -3%
Cut outs = +?% (cut out 2’ past turbo vs stock npp cut out)

I have been working on my exhaust. I welded in a couple of e-cut outs onto the stock exhaust and I also built a pair of dump tubes for max effort days when I want to pull the entire exhaust off the car.

It is surprisingly loud considering it is post turbo dumps.

Time will tell. I think I have a shot now but someone is going to bust a mid/low 8 before long.

Tuning it with the cam and converter is a challenge. I have gotten no where yet and decided to just start over and actually listen to some people that are trying to help me. I need to learn about the tq tables and how to adjust them.

I think the White Magnuson Camaro has the power, but they haven't worked on it for over a month so don't think its going to happen soon. The Procharger boys are gonna be hard to handle. They have a pretty good head start on all of us. They are making lots of power and several are in the upper 8's and working hare to improve even more.

Subscribing because it's throwback Thursday and someone sent me a video of a certain 4wd pickup truck with a pt88 in it and some annoying kid in the passenger seat videoing everything.

Look forward to see the results.... All of your other builds have come out great. I'm sure this one will too.

I posted this in the trans section but might as well put it here also.

I went to the track on Friday. It didn’t go well. The transmission completely came apart. I did my burn out in drive and I guess that is a bad idea. It went through 1,2,3,4,5,4,5 in a span of a few seconds. I think that combined with the trans tuning changes and the trans internal mods somehow resulted in a major failure. I have been running thing trans through the gears and have it tuned up to 900-1000rwhp and it has been fine but it did not like that burn out. Burn outs will now be held in 2nd only.
