should be there as others have said only works on decent inclines, in order for it to come you need to slowly release the clutch with the brake still in as soon as it sense's your trying to hold it from rolling it kicks in. You'll see a message on the info by speedometer

You should be able to turn it off in the setting menu. It seems as though I saw it some where in the vehicle settings.

I noticed this for the first time yesterday and mine is A8. The words "Hill Assist" showed up on the digital gauge cluster.
