Get me out of my Procharged 2016 1SS and into a ZL1 special ordered the way I'd like it from factory UNDER msrp, and we are in business. Looks like you live in my neck of the woods, which means you either work for Rydell or Keyes (just a guess). Keyes jerked me off trying to squeeze 38k out of me on a hyper blue 1ss with just black wheel option (bunch of jokes). Pulled out all the cheapest tricks in the book while I sat there with a loan authorization IN my hand and ready to purchase. Rydell didn't want to budge from MSRP+tax on a 1SS manual with black wheel pack and NPP. I ended up getting my 1SS with more options for a smidge under MSRP out the door all the way from butt**** hardbor chevy. Granted all these cars were ON the lot.

If you can place orders AND provide good deals then I have a good number of people who I can send your way. Hit me with a PM and lets figure this out.

OP, the only other advice I can give you is don't listen all the nay sayers posting on here. If this was a new ZR1 or even a ZL1 1LE I would tell you to expect to pay at least MSRP and maybe even a mark up. ZL1s are not a rare exotic at dealers. There are at least a couple dozen on lots within a hundred miles of me. Which is probably within a 100 miles of you.

They are going to want to move these cars, "special allocations" or not, with the 2019s hitting lots soon. Can you expect a huge discount. Probably not. But I would bet my next pay check that with some patience and shopping around, you could find a dealer to order you one for a couple grand under MSRP plus incentives.

Good luck with your search.

ZL1 1LE is a simple package on the ZL1. Theoretically if you could easily order a ZL1 you can easily add the 1LE package to it. So let's get you off your high horse right there real quick

The naysayers here are saying you definitely CAN get a special order ZL1 for under MSRP or at MSRP just not in California for reasons I already beat to death. A car on the lot though? Of course you can. Just depends on how long it has been sitting there and how they're doing on sales numbers for that month.

Just trying to help. If you end up ordering a zl1 for under msrp here, post up and we will Happily cheer you on.

The car was delivered from the factory to Paradise Chevrolet in Ventura (where I took delivery this past weekend) so there were no additional shipping costs...

Again, says the person who didn’t buy a ZL1 in California

OP, it will be easier getting a special order ZL1 outside of California than inside of California, as we’ve said. None of us are trying to steer you away, in fact we have all said we hope you can, and you now have two dealers who have come on and said they would help you out. The car is no longer a rarity like it was last year, so maybe dealers are getting permission from their GM’s that they weren’t getting a year ago.

And yes, if you can get a special order 18ZL1 for a a few grad under MSRP, please post here!

I live in Glendale very close to you, I've ordered all my sports cars from Rydell Chevrolet in Northridge. They always get me the newest hottest cars at MSRP and only require a $500 deposit.

They will honor any incentives at the time of your purchase if any apply to the ZL1. However, to be frank, if you went to the dealer asking to make an order for below MSRP they would send you to there used selection.

If you want a ZL1 with your exact specs, you're going to have to pay a premium. You're now buying the top model of the Camaro, not a traverse, or car that normally gets discounted.

Says another person that ACTUALLY OWNS a ZL1. You can either take sex advice from a porn star, or a nun, your choice OP

A week ago, I would have been more in agreement. But since I hydroplaned and totaled my SS last week, I started window shopping ZL1s around town, and I am frankly surprised at how much...same-ness I am seeing in local inventories. I am REALLY surprised that I haven't seen any exposed CF hood cars, because I figured that would be a slam-dunk option. And the vast majority of the others sitting on local lots right now are A10 cars...and a lot of Arctic White.

Also, purchasing new out of state and bringing the car in would have to be a really killer deal, because you can't duck the sales tax like you used to, so California will get theirs anyway (about 8.5%), plus whatever additional costs you incur for transport, etc. So even if you do find that perfect match, the math might be about a wash.

I’m not expecting something crazy like 10k off a car that they have to order, but I’m just looking to get a fair deal for a bit under MSRP like 3k off or so (plus any incentives from GM that are offered at the time of purchase...I own an import so hopefully they do the $2,500 off for that)
You'll get about exactly that much off, if you find a car you can live with in the next 8-10 days on a local lot. I sat down with a dealer at Mark Christopher in Ontario earlier this week and checked the available offers, and between factory cashback and the Conquest bonus, it totaled $3500.

That's assuming you can't get them to wiggle another grand or two.

As others have noted already, if you want to find something that is a 100% match, you'll be factory ordering a car, and getting all applicable discounts only.

If you find something on Mark Chris' lot, or Mountain View Chevy in Upland, which is under the same ownership, talk to "Nick the Greek", he's a straight shooter and I will likely deal with him after I sort out all of this insurance stuff.

definitely a lot of "same-ness' on lots, I agree. I was thinking that maybe with a low enough out of state deal you could still win after sales tax, etc., but you're probably right regarding it being a wash.

for me, when I found what I wanted, I ended up getting reamed by the dealer... But, I got what I wanted, which is all that mattered to me. I have yet to see another whit Zl1 convertible anywhere in Socal.

I was in the same boat - the ZL1 convertible I wanted (black, M6, carbon hood insert, nav) didn't exist at except maybe 1 dealer on the east coast, so that meant factory order.

In looking around and discussing with dealers in the Bay Area, they weren't even interested in taking a factory order (some lied and said the non-1LE ZL1 were limited allocations - BS, the engine is on restricted volumes, so it just takes a while to build. Others said sure, c'mon in, went in with deposit in hand (hell, half the total $ if they wanted it) only to find out the price they wanted was way different that what was said in email, you know after "talking" to their sales manager about ZL1 factory orders).

Plus all ZL1s on the floor (coupes, non-1LE's) had a $8-$10k markup.

So I ordered out of Texas, got a factory order plus GM Supplier Pricing + current rebates, plus dealer cash. Best part is after I drove it home, already had the 1500 mile break in period handled.

Skip CA dealers for factory ZL1 orders, their heads are on backwards.

Yes, that has been the experience of most of us in California. not sure why it's like that, but it is. glad you saved, even if it meant leaving Califoria

9.5% of the price BEFORE incentives, etc.

Unreal, getting taxed on the MSRP, not what you are actually paying.

Thieves.
