WOW

Holy crap! New ZL1 640 hp from the Z06 and a new 10 speed auto trans! What!!!
I wonder if you need a tag to hunt Hellcats!!

That should spank the Hell right outta the Hellcat in a straight line and humiliate it if there is a corner anywhere within 100 miles!!

Hehe...when I saw this I thought it was going to be about World of Warcraft and should go in the "gaming" sub-forum.

Doubt it's going to spank a hellcat too hard in a straight line. From a dig, possibly, but probably not from a roll.

Never underestimate the power of weight reduction. They will have almost identical power to weight ratios and the Camaro will have much better tires to help keep the power down. I feel pretty confident in its ability to keep up.

Yes, I believe the Camaro will keep up, but the OP said it would "spank" the hellcat, which I doubt, especially from a roll. I've seen it keep up with a viper and Z06 in a lot of roll races which is why I'm hesitant to say the ZL1 will spank it.

Agreed. It won't spank it in a straight line.

The 2015 challenger hellcat has 707hp to the crank and weighs 4500lbs. That's 6.36lbs/hp. The challenger hellcat dyno's at 620rwhp, now that's 7.25lbs/rwhp.

The new ZL1 makes 640hp and weighs 3850lbs. That's 6.01lbs/hp. Now there aren't any dyno numbers on the new ZL1, however it shares the manual 6 with the SS. The SS dynos are showing an average of only 10% parasitic loss, so there's really no reason to think the ZL1 will be any different. Therefor the ZL1 is likely to make around 575rwhp, so that's 6.69lbs/rwhp.

The ZL1 will likely be faster in the 1/4 as well.

Haven't you heard? Because hellboat claims highest HP, they have learned to defy the laws of physics and while your math is correct it doesn't matter because Dodge has stated "707HP, end of discussion".

I hope you sense the deep and overwhelming sarcasm in my post.

What matters are time slips and numbers at the track or races in the real world. The hellcat traps close to, or more in some cases, than the Z06 does and keeps up with the Z06 and Viper in roll races for the most part. The Hellcat has problems from a dig with tiny 275 tires but does well from a roll since traction isn't as big an issue. If the Z06 doesn't spank the hellcat, from a roll, I doubt the ZL1 will. The Zl1 should be able to take it from a dig since it will have better traction but it will probably be a close race from a rolling start.
