I owned 5 mustangs before I made the switch to the camaro. The 15-17 just lacked torque for daily driving and wasn't that great looking to me. This 18 is absolutely horrendous. They took a front end that was hard for some to swallow and completely ****ed it up worse. I know it will gain hp and tq but it can't make up for that front end. My 1ss weighed 3620 with 1/4 tank of gas. I'm guessing that this mustang will gain some weight. My A8 1ss ran 12.2@116 bone stock in 85 degree weather. I don't see this new stang dropping .7-.8 sec. and this price difference the stang owners were touting will be gone when equally optioned out on this car. I may be wrong and the stang gets 475hp and runs even with or faster than the ss but that front end will never go away. Doesn't give that warm and fuzzy feeling about the 2020 update either.

Everyone's talking about huge msrp increases. Yes, that is possible, this is quite a bit of new content. However...(yea I've posted this at least once before, but it still seems relevant.)

There indeed will be an increase in msrp once updates are come along. Let's hypothesize 2018.

Mustang has never had huge increases when substantial updates are made, for example:

1998 GT starts at $20,150
1999 GT starts at $20,945 a 3.8% increase

2010 GT starts at $27,995
2011 GT starts at $30,495 a 8.2% increase

2017 GT starts at $32,645
2018 GT could be $35,322 going with the higher if the two previous updates, 8.2%.

Even if we were to guess a 12.6% increase, one based on the scale of 3.8% to 8.2%, that means the '18 could start at $36,758.

Still below the '16 Camaro SS's $37,295. Of course this is all wild speculation but that's the fun of this whole internet business.

The big question come is as, how much will all the options add up to?

Pricing for the base four-cylinder model likely to remain close to the 2017 Mustang EcoBoost $27,095 MSRP while the GT should add approximately $500-$1000 on top of the current $34,095 MSRP.

I think this looks fantastic. Less muscle car, more sports car look. More Aston Martin.



They added pretty much what many current owners have been asking for.
I think this will sell extremely well.

I had intended to hold onto my 16 GT PP, and then shop in 2020 the s650 vs. whichever Camaro is available. This may give me second thoughts about that.

Content goes up. Price goes up. I bet your close with those numbers. A loaded GT will push 50 grand. Just like the 2SS.

Should be interesting to see how the pricing plays out.
They have baked in more performance features in the 18 base GT (portions of the current PP are now going to be standard). Not to mention any increased costs attributed to twin disk clutch, new flywheel, and port/direct injection on the coyote.

When I shopped the Camaro vs the GT, I was attracted to aspects of both cars, but at the time (mid summer), an SS was 4 grand north of the GT. I was able to get the GT with PP all in for about 32 grand including taxes, tags, etc. With some sweat equity I put in my own leather seats and touchscreen system, ending up with quite a bit of car for the amount paid. I love the car, but hope that there is still a rather inexpensive v8 car available, or they will hurt themselves with sales demographics. Camaro obviously learned this lesson.

Would love to be a fly on the wall during the planning meetings for both cars where they decide on feature cost analysis.

If what they are saying is true, it will be a vast improvement on the current one. I really don't see a major departure in looks from the current car, but the rear end looks better. YMMV.

I agree its hot in Silver, there are all kinds of different design elements going on, and it feels like its classier. I also like it better than than hardlined 6th Gen Camaro, and all they did was freshen up the fascia lol.
