1,7xx miles - Won't be started for 30 consecutive days

my 1lt rs a8 was impounded on the 13th of march and is on a 30 - day hold.
I plan to clean her up real nice and send her right in for an oil change the day I go get her out.
is a oil change even necessary? do I have any mechanical problems to worry about? as the vehicle probably won't be started for 30 consecutive days..

I would be worried about the battery. Just curious, how much jail time did you have to serve?

I would be concerned with the condition of the car and what parts might be missing after being in the impound yard for thirty days.

Stuff happens to Camaro owners, nothing to worry about.

Impound lots can make junk yards look like country club parking lots. When they say not responsible for vehicle, they mean it.

Hehehe

From videos I've seen its really easy and almost unnoticeable to hit 120+ in the new Camaro. Maybe he just wasn't looking at his speedometer?

oil change is not necessary, but as everyone points out, it might need a good cleaning.

Oil does not go bad from sitting. Think of it this way, do you see an expiration date or "use by" date on a quart of oil when you buy it?

And changing your oil won't do much to help. Engine should start and the oil pump will do it's job.

Battery on the other hand at 30 days may be another story as pointed out.

lol man I love you guys. I visited the yard yesterday for the first time to retrieve some belongings, everything was in place, the car is extremely dirty but has no dents/scratches and is parked on a pretty spacious lot. there are other cars parked next to it but spaces are pretty far apart. if it comes out with no dents/scratches I'll b very happy.

If it doesn't my car club brother owns a very well established collision center so she'll b back looking new for a very well discounted price. pray for me. 1st world problems.

I'll just say I was conducting a field test to see if my car had an open differential.
....after a VERY thorough field test I've come to the conclusion that 1: police do not like donuts as much as the stigma suggest.

So they took the car because you did some donuts? Where were you doing the donuts, a busy intersection? lol

You may just need to jump start it.

My Vette goes dead after about 6+ weeks.
I now keep a trickle charge on it.

I left my V in the garage under a car cover for the 10 weeks we were in Florida this winter. When we got home, I pulled off the cover and it started up like I'd pulled into the garage the night before. Garage is not heated, but it's attached to the house.

Best regards,

Elie
