Buying from Carmax?

Have any of you guys bought their ZL1 from CarMax?.. If so how was your experience? They have quite a few Zl1s online and they state their "no haggle" price. Wondering if they actually don't haggle and just what your general experience was...thanks

Prices are indeed no haggle. What you see is what your going to pay. They do not negotiate

What do they do if you offer them less?

They'll just politely remind you about their no haggle policy.

This business model didn't work well with Saturn.
People like to haggle.

Yeah I don't like that. I want a good deal, and typically in order to get that, you need to haggle and get that price down.

They've been doing it with success for 20+ years. Lots consumers don't like to haggle. Saturn had deeper issues.

Now CarMax has gone one step further by trying home delivery. This I'm not sure is a good idea. lol

CarMax tries to sell you on their name, 30-day warranty and the quality product of a reconditioned used car, not so much on price. They've found people are willing to pay a premium for that. Not all consumers are the same.

I bought both my 2009 300C SRT8 and my 2010 Camaro SS from CarMax in Lexington, Ky. The numbers were within reason for the low mileage machines I was looking at. I got the 300 in Sept. of 2011. It only had 6400mi. on it. 50k sticker, we paid 30k. It now has 110k on it with 0 issues. The Camaro had 16k miles and I paid 23k in 2013. I now have 42k on it with mods starting. The car was in IL and I paid $199 to have them ship it to Lex. The did a Skype video call walkaround with me while I was in the Lex. store with a sales guy in Chicago. The car was on a lift and we saw anything I asked about.

The process is painless. The business model works great for those that don't know what kind of car they want. The choices are large. Corvettes to minivans. If you have one make/model in mind, then find your price. Either their price meets your expectations or you go elsewhere.

I will say, that in my search for a ZL1, CarMax prices do seem to be be within reason based on options and mileage... I found a '13 with 6k miles for $39,998, and it has Nav and suede package. The price seems to be reasonable based on what I am seeing at other dealerships, Maybe still a touch high, but reasonable

I purchased mine from Carmax it was in Nashville and they transported it for free to my home town of Jackson...Depending on where you live and the distance of a vehicle that you may be interested in there is a transport fee that you must pay and is not refundable if you choose to not buy the vehicle...They will not negotiate on their price, and will low ball you on your trade-in...One very important aspect is how do you intend to pay for the vehicle...They offer in house financing, and of course make money off the rates, they supposed run a comparison on their computer system and guess what their rate is always the lost and they will not show you the other rates...I'm an impulse buyer if I like it and I want it I make a deal on spot...While I was waiting on my paperwork there was a couple trying to purchase a vehicle I don't remember the specific vehicle but I do remember they were told the interest rate would be 11.5%, I would have walked away and told them they must love that damn car...So with that being said if you're not paying cash it would be best to work with your bank or other financial institution for the best rate available and then make your purchase from them...They do have very good vehicles to offer and their prices can be competitive to local dealerships...So transport fees and interest rates are extremely important...They will let you walk away without offering any incentive, they can does that based on the volume of vehicles they sell being a nationwide seller...

Every ZL1 I looked at at CarMax was hammered....

But that just could have been my experience.
