Night Fury Cam, stall converter?
Is anyone running or have ran the night fury on the stock torque converter for the ss or zl1? I am preparing to start a cam project, and am deciding if a new stall converter is an absolute must at the moment. Thanks

Should always do converter before cam. I regret not getting the converter first.

Stall converter is the single best performance upgrade you can do for an auto car. It should be one of the first things done on an auto. My wife's mustang dropped 7/10ths at the 1/4 mile just from a stall.

Ugh. Misinformation is strong in this thread.
A proper converter is chosen by a number of parameters. Usually the defining factors are weight of the vehicle, rpm @ maximum torque, actual usage of the car/truck, etc. Well, you can't know the rpm @ MTq until you have the cam installed. Or if you buy a T/C based on stock cam, it will not flash or stall to appropriate range of the new cam plus drivability may suffer depending on the cam's idle and low rpm characteristics. You do not come to a forum looking for converter stall size. You go to forums looking for anecdotal evidence of the proper manufacturer to choose and to find out which manufacturer seems to have a handle on the given platform (5th or 6th gen Camaro). After that you call or email the manufacturer with the specifications and intended usages of your car. Then and only then can you get an accurate "approximation" of what you specifically need. They would actually like for you to have a dyno sheet of your build if you really want to maximize your money. Circle D FTW!

OP this is a setup that has been done many times over. Give one of the vendors a call to help get you into the right converter for your planned combination. Like others have mentioned the camshaft you are looking to run will not work or perform properly with the stock stall speed.
