Has this happened to anybody else's steering wheel?

Might not be the right thread for this but I'm just stumped on what the hell happened. Almost looks like it's cracking. I don't wear rings so I don't think it could be scratches

Do you bump the steering wheel getting in and out of the car? My steering wheel cover has similar marks from my key chain/knife clip when I bump the steering wheel getting in or out at times.

^ Looks like something is cutting into it, key chain, or a ring, of something like that. I have 90K on my '11 and nothing like that.

The only other thought is that the leather is loose and crimping up?

Do you carry a pocket knife by chance? I actually did thar in my vette once.

Getting out, my knife clip outside of my pocket slid along the bottom of the steering wheel and the result was almost identical.

Looks like plain old cracked leather to me, but that's strange on a 15. Bet you could get it warrantied provided the mileage isn't over 36k

I have identical marks on the wheel of my 2010, its from my belt buckle rubbing against it, or the rivets on my jeans, or my fire pager, or even the zipper on my coat. I noticed the marks first and then noticed that getting in and out of the car i would bump it. I kind of figured, is what it is at this point.

Has this happened to anybody else's steering wheel?

My knife clip did mine too. You won't believe how mad I am with myself on that but truly appreciate the fact that I am not alone. Misery loves company. Thanks brothers.
