2012 Camaro 2SS/RS VS 2012 VW Golf GTI

As the title says who would win from a dig?My SS is an auto. Same question but my wifes 2012 2LS VS the gti.

Won't be close for the SS. The 2LS will probably lose. It has the wrong gearing for a track car.

I thought so. He thinks his awd will give him an advantage but he weighs 4200 pounds and has 256hp and 243tq to my SS 3780 pounds and 400hp. I think the V6 may have him cause it is 3780 with 323hp.

They are low 14s cars, but the 0-60 is mid 5s. The 2LS just doesn't have the gearing of the 1LS (3.27:1) to pull down a 14.1-14-3 1/4 th. Now a good run in a 1LS or 1LT would be real close.

Wow, that's a pig. In that case I don't see how it could run low 14s. The 2LS may have a chance after all.

That is what i said. He also said that in 6th at 70mph he is at 3200 rpm. Seems like a lot.

First, the Golf GTI does not have a V-6 with 256 hp and does not have all wheel drive. The Golf R does have 256 hp and all wheel drive but it gets the hp from a turbo 4. The Golf GTI is FWD with a turbo 4 with I think about 217 hp, it used to be 200 hp but they have increased it. I have a 2008 Golf R32 which has 250 hp V-6 and all wheel drive. I don't know the exact weight but it is about 3,700. I have taken my R32 to the track and in 15 passes the best I have gotten from it is 15.34. I also have taken my 2SS to the track with a few mods and I have a best of 12.89. I do love both the R32 and my 2SS, but I do think a stock 2SS and a the V-6 Camaro will win.

If it's just a GTI? The V6 camaro should easily win, the SS no doubt would smash it.

Used to own a 2003 VW GTI w/ the VR6 (LOVE that VR6 exhaust note)

As someone stated above, 6th gear is rediculous on RPM, and they do weigh a metric buttload. 72mph was @ 3000RPM in 6th in my old GTI.

The 2012 has less HP and probably weighs even more.

The GTI is just a normal FWD turbo 4-banger. If it's a GTI R, it's AWD and as a bit more power.

Yes it is a GTI R. I didn't know there was a difference he just told me today.
