CALLAWAY = WAYYY OVERPRICED, IMO.

Callaway is the GM version of Saleen.

Buy the ZL1 and keep the extra $8000.00 and the better handling car. The Calloway is still just an SS with a S/C.

ZL1 = certified.

I saw another post on here from someone discussing how the "tuners" don't test their redesigns with the same testing the factory does.

The factory tests the entire certification for hours on end in extreme hot & cold conditions. which means reliability tested through a lot more heating/cooling expansion/contraction cycles, rpm ranges for hours.

IMHO

ZL1. Callaway barely even looks different than the stock SS unless you want to spend way over the base pkg on appearance items (hood, etc). Post ZL1, tuners will have to step their game up on both performance and aesthetics.

ZL-1 hands down. I was looking at calloway's and they do nothing to the car that you could not just buy and SS, then an E-force and some minor suspention upgrades.

I just looked at one in person at the portland autoshow but it was a vert and they wanted over 60k. the one they had the year before was a coupe and it was 57.5k.

way overpriced. the ZL-1 will destroy a callaway in the twisty's but I think the callaway may be lighter and be a tad faster in a strait line. they quote high 11's.

I really don't see many Callaways selling with the ZL1 now in the line up. Callaway makes some great cars and it may hang with the ZL1 on the straights,but unless you spec the Callaway with their suspension package(expensive),I don't see it having a prayer on a road course.

A Callaway speced to to run with the ZL1 would be $20k more than a ZL1 at least.

All their times they post are run with drag radials or slicks. I asked in a thread about Callaways on the Corvette Forum what the cars run with the tires you actually get on the car. The guy from Callaway said a magazine was running a test as we spoke as to what the car would run as delivered but I never saw the results.

Rest assured the Callaway Camaro will not run the times they post with the tires that come on the car.

That is kind of what I figured. It is not like they had time slips just EST. I would think it a stait line though they would do just fine.
