$54,095 is about right considering it has most of the options included! I will get the auto with the paddle shift for sure if I decide to buy it! Not sure about the color either; have to think it over on that too! I guess the inside is black with color inserts too! Nice that they gave it out now so you can think about it now!

I didn't read all 19 pages of this thread but I did read the first 6. For those that think the only kind of racing is 1/4 mile and are baffled at the "rolling start" data, well there IS other kinds of racing as GM is clearly pointing out with their Nurburging lap time. Rolling start data is of interest to those doing road course racing as it indicates how quickly the car can get up to speed coming out of a corner.
It looks like an amazing car; an incredible accomplishment for a stock, factory MUSCLE CAR to be in the territory it's in on the Nurburgring. The price seems like it puts it out of range of the average Camaro owner until you consider how much money people are putting into their Camaros. But it's really aimed at the road course crowd; not the 1/4 milers. You don't need all those extra coolers for 1/4 mile. My only disappointment is the weight. With driver and related safety gear you're going to be pushing up towards 4,400 lbs. Man that's heavy for a road course car. It's a testament to what the engineers have accomplished that even being that heavy they can post a 7:41 at the Ring. That's impressive! I'm keeping my 2010 SS; with all the mods I've made it's a fantastic road car. It's not quite as sophisticated technology-wise as the ZL1 but it's almost 400 lbs lighter and no slouch. It's very interesting though to watch what their development team is doing with a Camaro!

Don't get me wrong 55K is a good price but I was hoping for the original announced price at 47k but concidering the options are reasonably way cheaper than I expected 55K is fine with me. Two years ago I was really close to buying a ZL575 for 65k..... so glad I held out.

I am seriously considering attempting to get a ZL1 on top of my SS. The 54k price is nice, but im sure like when the GT500 came out the mark up will push it up another 3k or so, depending on dealership location, allocations etc. My brother, who owns an 08 Z06 says "just go for a z06 if your going to spend so much" I dont know...choices...

I was in the ball park for the price guess/speculation. I predicted a GG tax. And now that the 1/4 and 0-60 have some numbers from GM, it's time to know what it really does from a Christmas tree.

before spending anything, I need to see some lap times of VIR and Laguna Seca
I ASSume this $55k 580hp monster can beat the $40k 444hp Boss lap time at Laguna Seca raceway of 1:40.21..... I'd also like to see the Boss's lap time at the "Ring" |

I was in my dealers lot the other day.... and they had a new SS Covnertible loaded to the max. The Sticker was in the $51,085 range. Yes, it had everything a convertible could have. So, at the time I was thinking, how much would it be if I added ALL the ZL1 components to that convertible? $70,000??. So I started to worry that if I took $7000 off my expectations, the ZL1 would be $63 base.... So, seeing it at $55 with delivery made me ecstatic. If it had been $47,000 I would have really started worrying where they had cut corners to allow for the ZL1 mods. The way I see it, YES, we do have a fairly heavy car for a "roadrace" car. But, we have a PERFECT car for ALL AROUND PERFORMANCE WITH ROAD COMFORT. Not to mention, the Vette guys/gals will be turnin their heads to see it! For sure!
Love the product GM.. thanks! |
