Camaro gen 6 305/25/20?

Anyone running 305/25/20 in rears for Camaro? Or has anyone tried 295/30/20 up front? Looking to upgrade tires. But not sure if to invest in the front or the rear tires. Any feedback is appreciated thanks

Noting your current setup and overall goal may help. I would start with the rear since that's where the power gets put to the pavement.

I do see that your an RS. Mines a V6 that I've modified a little, including tires. I currently have 275/35R20 et 35 front, 305/30R20 et 38 rear. Reason for the 275 up front is it kept the same tire diameter as the stock 245 on 18's. You could go with the 285/35 to match a 1le trim on the front but the price difference in tires isn't worth the extra pinky in width (to me anyways). You could run a 295 or even a 305 with the proper offset or spacer but I read somewhere on the forum these larger fronts on 20's didn't perform well. And with a wider/taller tire, you will likely rub at max turn-in and may not be able to add any negative camber to the front. You would likely have to shave the spring perch on the strut.

As far as tires go, I daily drive mine 365 days out the year plus autocross and track 10x a year with the same tires so the Continental Extreme Contact DW06 Plus all season is my go to. Very happy with the performance.

I'm also lowered with Eibach Springs and can report I have no issues of rubbing. The tires also sit nice with the fenders.

That’s a nice Camaro bro. Looks clean. And cool thank you. I’m running 275/35 up front as well. But I wanted to see if 295/30 would fit up front.

So 295/30 won’t fit up front? Has anyone tried this?

We need some info about your Camaro to accurately advise you like trim/engine and wheel sizes front and rear and how you use it. My SS 1LE comes with 305/30/20 tires on 11" wide wheels from the factory and the ZL1 does too. I would not personally want to decrease the sidewall from 30 to 25 because you already feel bumps, potholes, and uneven roads quite a bit and your risk of a blowout or sidewall damage and/or wheel bending/damage from a pothole goes up as your sidewall gets smaller.

If you don't have a ZL1 or 1LE the sidewall decrease from 30 to 25 might be felt less noticeable because the suspension/bushings are less stiff but the wheel/sidewall risks are still there.

On the other hand, if you drive on road course tracks only and not on the street then the decreased sidewall would probably offer a slight advantage to feel and/or cornering.

Looking at Frankyp209's post history he has a 2019 RS (max 335hp if it is the V6) dropped 1.4" on lowering springs on redline wheels currently using 275/35 front and 295/30 rear tires. I can't find solid info about the redline wheel specs so I'm assuming they're the same as SS 20" wheels but that could be wrong:

Front Wheel-20x8.5 offset of 25 Front Tire-245/40/20
Rear Wheel-20x9.5 offset of 39 Rear Tire-275/35/20

If the wheel widths above are correct (you can verify by checking the specs stamped into each wheel barrel), your front and rear wheels are already 0.5" narrower than the recommended minimum size for those Tires on TireRack. Adding more tire width on those wheels would probably not help handling/performance at all.

In my opinion, getting a high quality summer or all season tire will make more of a difference to the car's ability to put down power than going with 10 to 20mm wider. 295 rear is already plenty of tire width for 335hp. Going back to how you use it, if you have to drive it to work daily then summer tires will be dangerous due to very little grip and could crack and/or fail if you drive during a cold snap when the temperature is in the 20s or teens.

Wow bro you broke it down to a science. I appreciate it. And yes you are correct I a running the stock redline wheels. 20x8.5 and 20x9.5. They are flush now. And run great. I don’t feel like a lost any HP. But then again I have a pedal commander that give me a throttle boost when I accelerate. TBH. I saw some tires for a good price that where the 305/25/20 and was thinking of putting those on rears and moving my 295/30 to the front. I know most Camaros run the 285/30 up front. But from the feedback I have heard on here. 295/30 should be no problem. I was looking for the more aggressive wheel look. And I think this set up would do that for me. It’s my daily so not worried about hp so much. Thanks for the break down sir.

I think you are worried about the wrong tires, try out those tire sizes on https://tiresize.com/calculator/ and it looks like the front's should be ~okay (and you have confirmation from posters here that they run those on the front with no issues).
However, getting 305/25/20 for the rears because they are a good deal seems like it will be problematic with that smaller 25 ratio as they are 6% smaller in diameter than stock tires, also have a lot less sidewall, and the rears will be almost 4% smaller in diameter than the 295/30 fronts (which some owners have reported traction control issues when front & rear sizes differ too much).
If you can find a good deal on 305/30/20 size for new rear tires instead then you will be running a much more reasonable combination very close to SS 1LE size that many use such as just posted by MSS1LE.

305/25/20 is a bad idea no matter the price. It's much shorter than stock, so your speedo will be way off (showing 70 mph at 65 mph, for example), it has very little sidewall, so the ride will be worse, and even more importantly, it's much wider than stock and you still have the stock 9.5" rear wheels, so the already miniature sidewall will be smushed out, I'm not even sure the bead will hold well enough under these conditions. It is true, however, that you can pair them with (similarly compromised) front tires that will avoid the ABS and Stabilitrak errors someone already mentioned.

In summary, if you want wider tires, you need wider wheels. The SS 1LE has the following setup, and for good reason:

Front: 10.0" wheels, 285/30/20 tires
Rear: 11.0" wheels, 305/30/20 tires

You can go slightly wider on these, maybe 10 mm extra each end, but even these wheels aren't on the widest side for real steamroller tires (think about the ZL1 1LE that was given 12.0" wide wheels for its 325/30/19 rears).

Also, I checked prices on 305/25/20 tires, quality brands aren't cheap in this size, so I'm afraid you might have seen some absolute crap with that good deal, which, if true, you should avoid regardless of all the wheel talk.

I agree on both points. You will get better grip from narrower tires that are name brand summer than you will from wider off brand cheap tires like LingLong. Off brand tires can be especially dangerous in the rain compared to quality name brand tires.
