Both cars have the same platform (L99) some of the cosmetics you mentioned have been changed. I have a 2010 and I like the steering wheel, the newer steering wheel is the same on several models. I had the HUD on my 2006 vette and it was cool at first but does not make or break the deal. Since you only mentioned the mileage you need to consider a couple of things. The mileage on the 2010 shows average miles for the year. A 2012 with that many miles already, was a daily driver. You also have to consider the balance of the warranty left on both cars. The 2010 will be out of drivetrain warranty a lot sooner than the 2012. If you are planning to mod the car, headers, tune etc. then the warranty will not matter to you on either car. Most important thing to decide is which car you really like, the dealer is going to push you toward the car that will pay the higher commission, and most of them do not have clue what they are talking about ( see the thread on this forum) and actually make things up as they go along, a friend of mine went to a Ford dealer to look at a Shelby GT 500 and the salesman told him that SHE (Carroll Shelby) was a great designer and that SHE was ahead of HER time! On the Camaro's check the service records and ask to see a Carfax if available, am not a big fan of Carfax but you never know what may turn up.

If I was looking at both (me), I wouldn't care what the dealer told me concerning the suspension, as I would upgrade it to aftermarket anyway. I wouldn't be convinced on the tune because both are L99's, and stock tunes were pretty much the same. Then again, I would be going with headers and a new exhaust, so again, I would be having it professionally tuned to get the most out of the car.
As stated by 2ndtimess, depends on what you are wanting to do with the car once you purchase it. If it's going to stay stock, probably go with the 12, if you are going to modify, go with the one you like the most (sounds like the CGM...I'm biased, as that is a great color). |

I'd go with the 2010. That is A LOT of miles for a 2012. Differences? The steering wheel and lack of HUD. The engine, transmission, suspension, etc. are 100% identical. The salesman is a joker.

Yea, forgot about the fe4 upgrades. I'd still stick with the 2010.

As for the suspension I don't really know what the differences are. If your going to upgrade I guess it doesn't matter. I am in the process of upgrading mine. I bought a 1ss I didn't know that a 2ss existed and my salesmen never mentioned it. Now my car is pretty much converted to a 2ss minus the HUD which is going to be installed this weekend with the help of Camaro_RS I plan on doing the supercharger at the end of the month or in January. If I could do it all over again I would have just bought a 2ss to begin with but hindsight is always 20/20 |

^ As AGM stated. 2010 has FE3. 2012 has FE4. To me, the FE4 feels more stable at higher speeds.

The FE4 suspension is a must have for me. A high mileage 2012 could be from highway miles which are the easiest miles you can put on a car.
Let me toss out one more option for your consideration, a new 1SS. At the time I bought mine asking prices for used SS's were the same or higher than the price I was able to pay for my new 1SS. Good luck with whatever you choose! |
