If you are truthfully stopping at 750, you don't really need 6 bolt heads.

I agree, once you pass the 800rwhp mark your in the market for a 6 bolt block.

I disagree. Thick deck heads, good gaskets and studs and 1000 is no issues. I'm the only local I know making 1000+ on a 6 bolt setup. The other 3 locals making 1000+ are all 4 bolt setups. The issue is more in the stock ls3 heads flex/warp but goto a lsa head or aftermarket head and 1000 is no issue, hell 1100-1200 isn't an issue with a good tune.

Agreed w/ Unreal, we made basically 1200 rwhp on Blake's car and he has a 4 bolt block. It has already been said but I agree w/ it. Thick deck heads, studs, ls9 gaskets, good tune and let her rip.

The need for 6 bolt is when you do heavy racing. 1 mile or so, auto-x, or something when you'll be running high rpms for an extended amount of time. That's when would need 6-bolt.

its not really the HP that is the requirement. Its the type of racing you do that is the requirement. Doing any mile events at 1kwhp+, then 6 bolt may be your best interest. But I made 1k+ and was fine with arp studs and LS9 head gaskets on a thicker deck aftermarket casting.
Now I wouldnt go out and make 15+sec WOT pulls and such.. |

If you are more than 750 whp and do any type of venue other than drag racing, I suggest 6 bolt block and heads.

Thanks for the input. Set up for Street Strip. Have TVS EForce on 3.25 and probably drop it to a 3"(if decide to keep it) so I really don't see a 416-18 LS3 going much above 750 anyway. Guess will see what the Heads look like and go from there. Studs at a minimum. Since got to do a complete rebuild don't want to take shortcuts.
