2012 vs 2013 - What Changes This Year?

Found 2012 ZL1 used...one owner...low miles.

What changed in the 2013 model year (so what am I missed going used versus new)?

Thanks!

Jeff

The rear view mirror, the NAV option and touch Mylink radio. That about all.

I wanted the NAV, so I waited for the 13. No it's not cost effective to try and retrofit. But you can use aftermarket.

Also - the inserts in 2012 were either Exposed Carbon Fiber or a flat black, but the flat black option disappeared in 2013 and was replaced with a painted Ashen Gray.

The ECF is still available

Sorry, maybe they did, I have a 13, read on the Chevy web site prior to buying my car that new for the 13 was body colored molding. A 12 owner could clear this up...Again, sorry if I flubbed it on my post.

No apology needed - I've just never looked and would be shocked if they didn't all come with body colored moulding, because even my 2011 2SS came with it

2012's came with body colored molding. The larger touch screen on the 2013's also dropped the AC/Heater controls down about 1" lower, obstructing the view of the rear center console gauges. They are hard to see on a 2012, but harder yet on a 2013. The 2013 mirror is much nicer looking than 2012. The rear view camera is displayed in the radio screen in 2013 vs. the rear view mirror on a 2012. The screen is much smaller on the 2012 as a result. There were 1,971 2012's made vs. 5,500 and counting 2013s. Either year will be a good one!

Get the 13, better options and the embroidered zl1 on the dash. Price is already way down on the 12s though

Sounds like my memory failed me a bit. Guess the 12's did have body colored molding. The other stuff that these people have posted for the 13'a is a fact. I have an early 13, with no NAV...great mirrors, great door hint lighting on the inside at night as well.

1. frameless mirror
2. mylink standard
3. nav option availible
4. convertable availible
5. night race blue color
6. ashen gray hood insert standard.
7. back up camera displays in the head unit
8. more car produced in 2013.

I like the 13 better even though the changes are small. the only advantage of the 12 IMO is if you wanted the flat black insert or you think the 1900 production run might make it more valuable. I did not think it would becaue the 13 is so similar.

on the flip side if you can save 5k+ there is nothing worth that on the 13.
