Not so much -should we- ... Could we?
You'd also need the rear diff.

I'd imagine the hardest part is going to be the electronics

As many have already noted in this thread, a member has tried it and the project turned into a complete nightmare, so it was never completed.

It comes down to, how much money, time and frustration are you willing to put into such a project? If you're willing to sink unlimited amounts of each into this guaranteed sh*t show, we want a timeline of pics from start to finish.

If you like building and trying things. It’s really not hard. I swapped mine back in 2015 and she’s been my daily ever since. I’ve recently started adding some things for better performance. Name: IMG_3151.jpg

So you only have to change 2 computers. Exhaust bolts right up to v8 manifolds. Tranny and depending on auto or not. I only needed the front half shaft. Reflash car, done.

have you driven the car as is yet?depending on what you plan to do with it you might discover that dad bought the RS because he liked it that way.you can always build the motor and install a turbo when you get bored with it later.

So, what was the reasoning behind this project? Selling the 6 and buying an SS would have been much easier. You just wanted to show that you could tackle it?

I said it before, (I think my comment was deleted because it was negative) and I'll say it again. if you have to ask this question, you Will fail. the swap is more than motor mounts, a case of beer a couple friends and an afternoon of the old days. your entire suspension, electronics, drive train... all of it is different. the post where the kid tried with his grandpa I posted on. you're gonna end up like him, with a wrecked v8 car, a clean v6 body and a pile of parts with no hope but to put the v6 back in. I've only ever seen 1 person actually complete the swap properly and it cost him some 40k to swap it over. unless you are a professional with tons of experience, and knowhow, or a butt load of money to pay that person, or don't care if your dash is a constant Christmas tree, just boost your v6. when/if it blows build another. you want a v8 car go buy one for 10-15k and keep the v6 for the sentiment.

My car was stolen in 2015. it was recovered with a locked motor. I decided not to put another V6 in it. I was in school for mech. engineering and my buddies found me a motor for cheap and thats how it started...

You sure have a lot to say and more than half of it is absolutely false. Speak from experience, not what you've read or heard.

i understand the sentimential value the car has and i respect that. so, with that said, if it were me, id leave the car alone and use the money you have saved and purchase a V8 car. That way, you can have your "fast" car and still have your 'Dads" car.

Yes. The majority of us can read. Thank you.

With that being said, a guy just posted on the 28th of July and posted pictures of his V6 to V8 swap. That is why I am here.
