Whipple belt help please

Hey guys just got my car back a few weeks go from cam and piston install. Lowered the pulley to 3.25
Today I go to check everything and notice the inside part of the belt is frayed in several areas and there are at least 2 spots where there is a notch of missing belt. Anyone have ideas how the notches got there and belt is fraying. Shop said belt is not strong enough for the power and or is weak. Belt is only 8 months hold and maybe has 2000 miles on it. I have the green had belt on order but trying to make sure this does not happen again

Search because I think there have been others with this issue. Brettman might be a place to start. Search his posts.

Mainly alignment issue. You need to check it with a Laser alignment tool. I have no issue during 15000mi with a belt.

I used it, but some pulleys are not steel, so need some technique.
and please check whether the pulleys are moving back and forth.

Do most shops use these when trouble shooting belt issues?

I know whipple had a bad batch of pullies they sent out. The only way to tell is to check them after the car has been driven and up to operating temp. Pull off the belt and try to pull the idler & tensioner pullies back & forth. If they move thats the first issue, then the next one is the tensioner pulley letting the belt ride close to the edge. That combined with the loose pullies will quickly eat a belt. I found this to be the problem on mine. All fixed now with correct pullies and a hd green belt.

My alignment was off right from the start. I has to shim one of the pulleys.
And one pulley is only supported 50 percent, by the outside step washer
The laser I used was a Craftsmen home kit. I just fabbed a mount for my mag base. I could see PPL have a problem with just installing and not checking it.

What belt did you get??

Hey Brett,
Been a long time
I was using the belt whipple provided and now have the hd green belt on order the same size that came with the kit. The issue I’m worried about is before the build the whipple was not fraying everything looked good on the belt then swap the pistons and lower the billet size and I’m seeing missing chunks and fraying in multi spots

Hey Buddy, I just LURK around now, CK on you guys..lol
WOW, did they do the tension right? It was OK before, now failing??
Just a thought, I checked mine off and on (I always have my hood popped)...lol.
What part no# did you order? I found it (green) for $35.00, just a little longer.
Didn't order it, I still might to check it out. I know the right size is over a hundred dollars, and never in stock.

OUCH, hard to tell (fussy pic) but alignment is my thought cause of the tear on the edge.
What does the groove side look like? Is it chunking pieces on that side?

I have seen anything looks like just the flat side and the flat side on the engine side is fraying as well
